Something I’d be interested in reading would be an assessment of which teams have the cap space this summer to even consider Marner and his lofty demands!? He’s going to ask for stupid money and, are there many teams with that kind of space opening up? With Rantanen getting $12M for 8yrs, I just cant see Marner even getting a raise, being a playoff dud. That said, moving Marner should have happened 2 yrs ago, and this was the major failure of Shanahan and why he was let go. It will be interesting to see Marners welcome when he plays in Toronto, on another team! I think he signs west. Glad to see him go!

Again, the major failure was dubas handed out those big contracts to Marner and Matthews and Shanahan signing off on it. The leafs should have played hard ball and never let either contract get over $9m. Neither Matthews or Marner had earned either contract.
Then the other major failure was buying into Dubas' thinking that analytics were going to take the leafs to a cup victory.
We had over $30m invested in three soft forwards.....not a great plan
