Are the Rangers trying to load up on cap space if Mcdavid does decide to test free agency? How much cap space do they have now that Kreider is off the books?
- Awolff9

Mcdavid isnt going anywhere. Count on it.

Don't think they're shocked. I think they were thinking his return would be a rostered player who would plug a hole. But the return is 6.5 mil fishnagels., that's it
- OLDSCHOOL#6

But now he has to turn that 6.5 mil into a 25+ goal scorer PP and PK specialist. Thats not going to happen. The team is definitely weaker as of now. We will see what else transpires.

I just hope its not BB.

Does he, though?
You have to hope that Laffy or whichever of the young guys steps up to fill Kreider's vacancy, to at least some degree. If Laf increases his production (not just above last season, but overall) say 7 extra goals, let's say 4 of them on the PP, then we're only looking to find 18 goals from whoever is brought in to finish this trade tree. Now you're looking for a sub-20 goal guy who can fill some PK time. Much less of a task.
None of these moves we live to dissect happen in a vacuum.

Ill leave hoping to other people, its what in front of me that I judge on. We all hope Laffy bounces back and at least becomes a 60-70 point guy. We will see. But if he doesnt what then? At least you knew what you had in CK20. He showed up in the playoffs. Ive said it a 100x's if Mika and to a lesser extent Panarin showed up on the ECF runs, we are in the finals. The Rangers losing werent because to CK20 nor was missing the Playoffs on him either.

The only way this becomes a win is if Mika waives, then we will see. Even then who is coming in to replace Mika? BB, No way, stay away from him. There is nobody in FA that I would want. It is going to take sometime to make this team a contender again.

On Rangers plans: "... there’s an undeniable effort to infuse this lineup with new blood. There's also a willingness to extend an offer sheet to a restricted free agent if an enticing trade doesn't materialize, according to two sources." #NYR

On Cuylle:

"... my sense is he won’t be signing anywhere other than New York. It doesn’t sound like a deal is close at the moment ... but I believe that Cuylle wants to stay and there’s confidence something will get done." #NYR

Now that this has come to light, who are some of RFA who might be attractive to the club?

I’d still put Byram as number 1 in my cross hairs for a trade. Either Laf or Schneider in the deal. Not both, but one of them. Byram really makes the rangers a much better team

Schneids and a pick for Byram...maybe need to add Berard, but it won't take all too much. Buffalo wants change...they are in a pickle.

My guess is JJP may also be in a deal here if the Rangers do not land Robertson (I just find it really difficult to believe Dallas is dangling him out there).

If you really think he makes the team that much better than you may need to include both or else really sweeten the deal.

Buffalo needs either guy just as much.

They would be paying 4 LD upwards of 33 million dollars combined with Byram. Thats not a very smart idea. One of those guys is getting traded, they have to. Samuelsson sucks kind of and Power and Dahlin are probably untouchable

Schneider and Laf for Peterka and Bo. That works too

I think because they signed Rantanen is why he’s supposedly on the block now.

What I don't understand is why move on from a 25 yeal old Robertson just to keep old men Benn and Duchene?

Got it

Man if Mika is out and then Panarin after next year, frees up some cap room also basically starting over and moving on from a core that wasn't able to get us to win the cup, but what will the future look like?

If they don’t plan to resign panarin they gotta have him waive this tdl. Could get a haul back. Especially if not in a PO race

If Drury doesnt think we will be in a playoff race he will send the Pens this years pick. That pick will determine Drurys thinking.

Cap Wages. It's nearly identical to Cap Geek/ Cap Friendly or whatever it was called in the day prior to the Caps buying the site.

Not sure if this is being talked about, but Vince is reporting that K’Andre Miller has his eyes set on becoming a UFA in 2027.

This is a major concern for the Rangers and they want to get value for him while they can.

Is there a difference between being a realistic Ranger fan and a miserable one?
