Marner is not the entire problem. But he's UFA and the team needs to make a major decision.

I agree. He is not worth that. Over on the other boards Fifty Mission Cap made a great point that the failure is not letting Marner walk for nothing. That is the cherry on top of a decade of complete failure.

I am just sick of the free pass given to Matthews. What exactly did he do to take control of a game, or even a shift. He certainly didn't elevate his game. His stats, are, and always have been, much poorer in the playoffs than the regular season.

Probably 100%. Not just because of the things that you mentioned, but also the fact that he hates dealing with the media. He can basically hide in Edmonton. Can you imagine him dealing with the media in Toronto, Montreal, Philly or NYC on a daily basis. Nah, not gonna happen.

If this is the case, I do not want Shanny with the Islanders if he did not want to make a move on the core 4. Why would Shanny not want a team with both skill and grit with the type of player he was in the NHL?
