Definitely an outsider, but with the turmoil in Vancouver and needed change in Toronto, could see Pettersson moved for one of the Core Four. Change in scenery would help all. - Popsghostly
Hard pass. I'd take them all over Pettersson. He can't even handle a regular season, let alone the playoffs. |

According to dregs.

Marner leaving will be beneficial to the culture in the locker room. His lack of character or accountability and his “we don’t care what people think” attitude are detrimental to team dynamics.
Trading Matthews would require a #1 C in return, otherwise, forget it.
Dumping Rielly would be a positive, tough to trade and get value, maybe Seattle for Oleksiak.
It’s two years post Dubas. Treliving has already done well to build the D and now he has the opportunity to turn the page and reshape the offense. |

if one "rotten apple" is affecting the rest of the group that much, then that means the team culture wasn't very strong to begin with, and it would need a lot more work than just one guy leaving imho. |

Not to mention that it is fvcking idiotic how Leafs fans have decided that Marner is the entire problem on this team, and ignored the consistently horrible playoff performance of the highest paid player in the league. |

You trade his rights to a team that wants an early shot at getting him. And they can sign him for 8 years to spread out the AVV. - .HOHO.
Do a sign and trade.
He'll get the extra year |

There are 3 players mentioned in my post. Marner gets the extra heat because he has no contract. |

Sorry, but in what way is it clear that Matthews wants to win. There is zero evidence of that. He is every bit as horrible as Marner in the playoffs. - Aetherial
His comment about "passengers" being on the team is clear evidence that he wants to win and is frustrated that others aren't pulling their weight.
Desire does not always translate to results though, unfortunately. But thinking that he doesn't give a (frank)? I don't buy it. |

EP is sound defensively, isn't afraid to throw a hit, and has had at least one deep playoff run where he was PPG.
The Leafs need a 2C and he would fit the bill nicely.
There was a lot of drama in the Canucks dressing room. Perhaps a fresh start would give him new life? |

talking about passengers while you're also being a passenger as the team captain isn't a good look.

Marner is not the entire problem. But he's UFA and the team needs to make a major decision.
Do you pay him 14M+ for 7/8 years? I think no. |

He effectively shutdown the other team's top line and, IIRC, lead the league in shot attempts during the playoffs.
He's clearly been battling an injury all season long and knows what the (frank) he's talking about.
Sit down, sir. |
