No way this team should sign Ehlers.
Absolutely should sign Tanev. - mjones242
I have a feeling that is going to happen. I thought they might get him at the deadline. I like him, but the Leafs will need a lot of changes. They get so littler production from their bottom 6, that needs to change. Their top lines need to change too obviously.
Id resign JT for a low salary for the 3rd line, and try to get a 2nd line C, and they need a true LH winger for the 2nd line with some grit. Its been too much of a revlolving position for this team.

Florida was expected to win this series. I am less upset they lost and more with how they lost. If game 5 and 7 were competitive and had both been losses I would likely be ok.
I think anyone but a complete moron or troll can see that Marner wants to test free agency. He wants to be the center of attention and he wants to be the star of his team and in the process will probably get $14-15 mil. If he wanted to sign here he would have by now.
Tre has done a fabulous job with Goal and the D in his time so far.. We need to trust that he can do the same to the forward group.
He has pulled of trades that nobody saw coming (Carlo) to help the D.
The first thing that needs to happen is Shanny needs to go.. He has been a failure here went off the board and hired Dubas who crippled this team by handing out contracts rather than bridge deals and has incubated the coddling of the stars. - Azuredoom
This is how I feel too, its the way they lost. They collapsed in game 3, to me that was the deciding game that cost them.
Obviously the way they played in game 5 and 7 just can happen in the playoffs. Ive never seen another team get run out of the building so bad in game 7 which was the most disspointing party. As a fan, I understand losing happens, but when you play like that, the fans dont even get to enjoy watching the game.
I do think not having Stolarz really hurt the team, Woll let in softies in multiple games, but the even bigger issue was Stolarz is very good at moving the puck, and Woll is very bad at it. |

Marner and his pathetic crying draft rights for? Getting out from his contract is the biggest thing they have going |

Definitely an outsider, but with the turmoil in Vancouver and needed change in Toronto, could see Pettersson moved for one of the Core Four. Change in scenery would help all. |

Stolie is almost like having another D in the crease. He’s much more of a battler than Woll who is more sound technically. Stolie better suited for a Panther series |

Completely agree, game 3 might have been a different result had he been in the net, that doesnt excuse the loss ofcourse, thats still a game they should have won.

You trade his rights to a team that wants an early shot at getting him. And they can sign him for 8 years to spread out the AVV. |

All of those guys have NMC contracts. The question is whether they ask for a trade or not - there's no way they are moved otherwise.
Obviously Marner will go UFA - I can't see any way he re-signs here. He didn't sign last off-season for a reason - he wanted to keep his options open, so (frank) him and his 1 assist through games 4-7.
Rielly has always been miscast as a 1D and I think he is often overlooked as an Achilles Heel on this team. We're stuck with him, I think, because of that NMC and his reasonable-ish contract.
AM34 just became the captain and, I think, it's clear he wants to win. The question is if he can ever figure out the post-season offensive puzzle (1 goal in 4-7, not good). I don't think he will ask to be traded, so let's hope some new additions on his line can help provide him with more space to work his magic.
Having said all of that, I honestly feel like it's more than just the makeup of the roster - there is absolutely, unbearable crushing pressure in Toronto. Marchand said as much and I tend to agree with him. It doesn't matter who plays for this (frank)ing team, it is going to take a miracle for them ever go deep.
TL;DR: we're cursed. - mjones242
Sorry, but in what way is it clear that Matthews wants to win. There is zero evidence of that. He is every bit as horrible as Marner in the playoffs. |

I believe once the season is done the contract is done.. The Leafs can trade his rights to any team to allow them to negotiate early at that point

Not sure why they would help another team. Honestly, as much as I hate what he has done, I try to resign him with a L-NTC so they can trade him in the future.

But I would not be surprised if you are right about it.
I should hate Panthers, like I was hating Boston some time ago, but I figured I don't for some reason. This fact is disturbing. - alex.TML
How can you not hate them more than the Bruins?
They have Bennett AND Marchand.

Which is why he was the first player they took out of the series.
He played in Florida. They knew how good he was. He had to go. Hello Bennett elbow. |
