Id say, just fill the line up with 1 year contracts and get a higher draft pick...but we dont have our first.
The UFA options are pretty weak.
Trade domi, sign Ehlers, give marchand a one deal (for gravy) and tanev for the bottom six.
Trade morgan as well.

- Fakepartofme

No way this team should sign Ehlers.

Absolutely should sign Tanev.

And how many cups has NY or MTL won recently?

You have no idea what it's like playing here, but if it's anything like being a fan, it's pure hell.

- gravyface

More than the leafs have in the past 40 years.

The "pressure" isnt an excuse. Just have the wrong type of players. We have great reg season players.

I'm okay with any team but EDM winning.

Well I guess something else could very well not go your way.

I'm about to tap out from here until July 1st where I can get drunk and eat pizza and brag about how awesome we look on paper.

It is time to enjoy the Summer, no pressure anymore, but I will watch the rest of the games for entertainment.

Marchsnd is old
Why would bennett leave Florida for the leafs?
Besides, hed be useless in a leafs uniform

- Fakepartofme

You keep saying this...FFS...he's a UFA that isn't re-signed. He could go any where or no where, Toronto included.

I am OK with Edmonton winning, not for political reasons, just like some players.
It is not plan B and not going to celebrate anything if they win.

- alex.TML

Edmonton is my 2nd fav team.
Would like to see them win. I want McJesus to get a cup.

Pressure in Toronto is huge, but I don't buy the narrative they losing because of it.
They again were not able to build collective, but bunch of selfish players, who demanded more that team can afford to be competitive.

He could.
But why choose a losing playoff franchise? Specially after their 100pt player walks?

If Im bennett, I would never sign in Toronto unless they really overpaid me and why would we want another contract like that?

Stranger things have happened, we'll see. I just dont see why he would want to.

Dubas screwed this team. Gave these guys the money, term, and control they wanted way too early and Shannahan never tried to change course.

Now you’ve got at least Marner walking for nothing and might as well size an overpaid Ehlers for a leafs jersey.

- CooCooKaChoo

It’s a fact. Dubas screwed the team. There are NO solutions this year. The better ufa market is next year. Leafs will need to take a step back in order to take two steps forward, there are no shortcuts. Toronto has great fans but they are tired of NO pushback. These guys put up zero fight in these games. The stats about the failure are ridiculous. They’ve changed the goalies, the D, the supporting forwards, the coach, the manager……..and now we’re hearing it’s the FANS fault!! Gimme a break. For me, Marner looked like crap. Same with AM. In the last six elimination games these guys have zero goals combined. Marner looked scared, didn’t want the puck, didn’t want to get hit. Domi was more effective at 1/4 the cost. Leafs management has some hard questions to answer and they don’t have the backbone to make serious changes. Which is why I stopped supporting them this season. Cancelled hockey channels. Hearing that it’s now the fans fault should be the last straw for anyone.

Its also huge in Montreal, New york, vancouver, boston. Also according to most of the leafs, they dont read the twatter, papers etc.

Oh, I'm pretty convinced this is their year but I'm not egotistical enough to feel like my schadenfreude for that franchise will be enough to curse them.

Players not playing for fans, they playing for themselves and their team mates, because they competitive by nature.
They know how to take all surrounding noise out.

But maybe, just maybe there is a correlation between the pressure of the market and players wilting in the playoffs here? Tkachuk even said they use that against them, they use that pressure as leverage against them.

I'm not saying we have the right mix, we never really did as 34/88/16/91 are all soft players with no pushback, no mean streak, but I do think if the core was somewhere else, they'd have a lot more success.

The Leafy script is just waiting to get published: Marner wins Conn Smythe with [insert new team here].

Issue is folks above the gm refuse to allow the moves the team needs to get them over the top. As much heat as Marner gets, Matthews went entire periods without being noticed.

Agreed as well.

Fans fault their team sucked? Again.

I'm still trying to figure out how Marner's hair was so dry?!?!!? A lot of us have played hockey, you really have to be slacking to keep your (frank)ing hair dry. Almost impossible.

But ya, tell me again how it's the fan's fault?!?!?!

wouldn't the blame for the team's poorly implemented salary structure fall on management though, and not the players?

Yes, of course. The management has to create environment where team is first for every player.

No idea, they can take different directions, but I don't believe they will try to blow it up, it is the business first of all and they have to fill the seats.
Only two Canadian teams were able to create real playoff team, it is Edmonton and Winnipeg and possibly Ottawa coming soon.
