Elliott thinks Marchessault would be an ideal get for the Leafs. Marchand and Bennett too.
Need some character guys who can elevate their games. - gravyface
Did Elliott say what trade assets the Leafs had to go shopping for Marshessault? Bennett would be fine but he’s going to get paid this offseason and I’d rather hold onto cap space for next year when there’s a better crop of free agents. |

Sweet, sweet Toronto tears. It's an annual spring tradition. Thank you Maple Leafs. - Danny Bomber
Maybe they should try to sign your coach’s kid. Orange is the new blue and white. |

But how much of that is a product of being in Toronto, where the loser energy hangs over this city like a bad fart? - gravyface
Probably none of it.
They spent the money on the wrong players and went all in on the wrong core over and over again.
Blaming the city is a fools game. |

Marchand is still a gamer, and wouldn't shrink in games like this. Have you not been watching at all?
FLA might not be able to afford to re-sign Bennett. - gravyface
No I didnt watch
But if you think a 37 year old is part of the answer for the leafs.....then they are really screwed.
Bennetts play will soon catch up to him.....and if he plays in Toronto, he'll be rendered useless pretty much. He'll just be in the box.
He wont be worth the contract he would get in free agency.
Leafs are screwed.
F'A's wont really save them, they have no picks or immediate prospects.....except for Cowan I guess
You dont go all in year over year on a team the rarely made it out of the first and never made it out of the 2nd. |

Ive seen marchand play for years, we all know what he brings. This isnt news.
He's 37 years old and has beating up on the leafs his whole career why would he come to a joke of franchise?

Apparently the whole team was talking about it, how this team would be lights out if they were in any other city but Toronto.
Maybe the Core 4 needs to pull a Wade/Bosh/LeBron and get traded to the Ducks |

Between Marner telling the bench to wake-the-(frank) up (exsqueeze me?!) and Matthews saying, "I just thought we had too many passengers throughout the rest of the game."... clean house.
The inmates run the asylum, and it's been going on for far too long. - gravyface
Dubas screwed this team. Gave these guys the money, term, and control they wanted way too early and Shannahan never tried to change course.
Now you’ve got at least Marner walking for nothing and might as well size an overpaid Ehlers for a leafs jersey. |

Assuming they resign the 3 RFA FW (Knies Robertson and Holmberg), here is who is currently under contract
Knies Matthews Domi
McMann Laughton Nylander
Robertson Kampf Jarnkrok
Quillan Holmberg Cowan
(Reaves)
(Possibly resign Tavares Lorentz and Patches)
Looks like 2C will be biggest need
I like Domi on Matthews wing
No to Boeser or Ehlers (too soft)
Other UFA options:
Duchene, Nelson, Bennett, Marchand, Giroux, Granlund, Benn, Suter, Palmeiri, Donato, Roslovic, Mangiapane, Gourde, Frederic, Armia, Bjugstad, Tanev, Kunin, Danforth, Jeannot, Beauvillier, Sturm, Faksa, Kuraly, Cousins
Or…. just wait for 97 |

You're fixated on age, when this team is in win now mode, one year at a time. Marchand will still be an excellent hockey player who knows how to win when he's polishing his FLA cup ring this summer. |

So bunch of players from a team that just beat the leafs again were saying positive things about the leafs but that its the fans and media's fault they suck every year in the playoffs?
Ok
But ya, I'd totally be willing to trade most of the core to anywhere. |

Are you in denial about the pressure that is the Toronto Maple Leafs? There is a world of difference playing in FLA; these guys have all said the exact same thing, and countless players have said the exact same thing for decades... how many players have said "thanks but no thanks" to playing in Toronto over the years? |

Fine sign him to a one year deal.
Problem is, he is gonna want 2- 3years for $6m per....and he's best suited as a 3rd liner right now.
So too much for a 3rd liner. We already overpaid in a trade for a 3rd liner. |

No more pressure than playing in Montreal or New york.
Sure there is more pressure than Florida or utah but people make it out to be bigger than it is.
There's pressure to play in an hockey city that hasnt won in years/decades. But its also easy to play in Toronto...play well, win....youre a god. |

I’m cheering for Dallas. I dont care about a ‘Canadian Team’ winning. I don’t want to see McJesus win it.

There is 0% chance McJesus wants to play in this market. The Oilers have Drai locked up for the next 8 years.
Why would he leave?! |

Id say, just fill the line up with 1 year contracts and get a higher draft pick...but we dont have our first.
The UFA options are pretty weak.
Trade domi, sign Ehlers, give marchand a one deal (for gravy) and tanev for the bottom six.
Trade morgan as well. |
