I’m hoping we hear about which way the franchise will go soon. Is Shanny gone? I hope so.

So my honestly feel is that it would be best to move all of Matthews, Nylander, and Tavares. Those three guys just don’t have that dog in them. Marner I think would at least drop his gloves if someone attacked him. (Actually I vaguely remember Willy be in a scrap?) But those other guys are all Nancys. I mean, Mitch can be a bit too, but I think he’s grown up a bit, you don’t see him on socials as much as Willy or Auston. Marner showed some animosity tonight, directed at his teammates but still. That’s what you want. I wish he was Knies size, and he played like Iginla, but that isn’t who he is.

My feeling is rebuild went wrong and it is no way this team can be retooled.
This organization is done at least for some foreseeable future.
It is what it is.
Drafted wrong players and gave wrong contracts to players who does not deserve it.

Leafs have options. More than the players do because now management have the full weight of the fans behind them to make major moves.

Willys gone, Berube has already blasted into shanny’s office demanding they trade him now. Coaches nightmare. Blatant disobedience by not playing any defence at all. No backcheck, never mind forecheck either. Just floating around. When Nylander is on the ice it’s like the other team has a power play. That’s how bad his defence is.

Disappointing.

What does it mean when fans say, "blow this team up?"

Are we talking about trying a different mix, changing some of the parts and remaining a different kind of contender?

Or, are we talking about seeking assets for a full rebuild?

Or, is there a middle pathway that enables some form of rebuild while remaining a contender?

Everyone needs to take a few weeks to cool off and think about the path that needs to be constructed.

Marner is clearly headed in a new direction, likely to the LA Kings. Tavares and Mathews should return. Berube is back. Is there room for Nylander on the Leaf bench with Berube behind it?
