what has this man ever won, he's just another retread and former flyer, another 2 years down the drain and more fans abandoning the team. what a waste, this team never learns, the 70's were 50 years ago and so was their last cup

As a Penguins fan I think this is a good thing. It just makes sense. He has the team pedigree the organization and fans want. He has experience and respect. I think he will do well there.

I am going to wait and see what they do this off season to see if it makes sense to bring in an older coach. Can they do something like Holmgren did in 2007? Loved Tocc as a player, will see what he brings to the table, hopefully not a pr stunt. I think Danny and Jonesy were very scared to bring in a college coach after Hextall/Hasktol.

I think you are going to be disappointed if you think this means that they are gonna have a busy summer free agency wise. DB was on NHL Network (Sirius XM) a couple of weeks ago and he sure made it sound as if they are gonna be status quo for one more season, and then try to make waves next off season. I guess we'll see if that changes now with Tocchet in the fold.

Tocchet. Alright then. Can’t say we didn’t see it coming.

Cue the Talking Heads.

Same as it ever was.

Status quo this season is what I expected, and I’m prepared for that. I’m sure we all are, right?

Big moves in following seasons make far more sense than attacking now.

Develop talent and make wise/lucky draft picks, and then have that off season when the kids are coming up like they did when they acquired Danny, Hartnell, and Timonen.

Maybe this means a legit shot at McKenna in the next draft. I’m trying to think of positives.

He may have the biggest hype machine around him since McDavid aside from possibly Bedard. Not talkin talent. Talkin hype.

Every year some kid pops up that people start thinking could be generational. I don’t know about all that, I hate the “G word”, but if he continues to develop and doesn’t get injured, he’ll have way more fanfare around him than Celebrini, Wright, Lafreniere, Hughes, etc. McKenna has been getting some noise going for a couple of years already.

Can’t deny the kid’s stats and personal achievements so far. Shame he's a wing.

Needs to fill out some, but he’s only 17. Still has plenty of growing to do.

He will be a Penguin and we will collectively punch many holes through many walls upon draft day.

How many coaches have won a cup in two different places? You want an experienced cup winning coach and you want a cup? Those two do not necessarily go hand and hand. Also, for those concerned about hiring Alumni... look at their recent hires that were not alumni and let me know how that worked out. Meanwhile Berube wins a cup and Brindy is one of the most respected coaches in the league. With that said, they really need to retain Shaw.

I don't think it's anything to write home about. Tech issues everywhere, and the content just isn't anything groundbreaking.

Brind'Amor, Berube and Tocchet were all grind it out, gritty players. Basically, boring from a hockey perspective. The difference is Berube's and Brind'Amor's teams do not play that way. Tocchet's teams play that boring, vanilla, painful to watch hockey. This coupled with, what I am sure will be disastrous signings, will propel the Flyers into a bunch of 30+ yo, multi millionaires walking around on skates like 6 year olds

What information do we have to go on with Briere that makes you think there will be Hayes - JVR type signings? Also, did you watch the Blues under Berube and I would hardly say the Canes play 80s Oilers hockey. They do not exactly play a style that enables offensively gifted players to excel. It's a high accountability, get pucks to the net style which is fine it works for them. The 2024 Canucks were 6th in goals. I would take that right now. Miller had 103 Pts, Dman Hughes had 92 and flourished under the coach and Peterson had 89 Pts. He plays a puck pursuit style which is what wins today. Not really sure where the stereotypes come from..

Perhaps you need to compare the rosters?? I mean, look at the rosters on Toronto and Carolina. You need the players to play a certain style. Were the Canucks boring to watch last year?
