I’ve always taken the most rational route. You guys turn it into “bUt yOu hAtE nYLaNDeR” and never really listen to what I’m actually saying. I criticize his defence a lot. That’s it. I think it’s overlooked because of his offence, but I don’t think it should be. Also, whenever Nylander isn’t playing well the conversation always gets steered towards Marner in an attempt to not have to acknowledge Nylander’s bad performance. Mitch didn’t get it done lastnight, no one did. Matthew’s has been awful. Nylander avoiding contact like he is during playoff games is (frank)ing wild, but you refuse to even acknowledge it. Because apparently it doesn’t matter when he does it.

Marner is at least structurally sound. He made a bad pass and lost his man on that goal. Bad BAD MARNER! But that’s going to happen from time to time. Willy just doesn’t play defence, period. No defence, not sacrificing, just blowing the zone, not for checking, not taking hits to make a pass, nothing. That’s the difference. That’s what the coach sees too. So I know everyone thinks Marner is the one who’s gone, and maybe he is, but I guarantee you that Berube has a much different perspective than you, the fans. He’s literally said Willy doesn’t listen to him and doesn’t want him talking (AKA coaching) to him.

This is the (sad) truth.

But honestly everyone, I think the Leafs can still do this. They can go into Florida with a chip on their shoulder. Hopefully Stolie is good to go. I’d even mix up the lines and see if it’ll shake something loose.

Three things can be true.
Willy can have bad games
Marner/matthews can have bad games
They can all have bad games at the same time.

What you are doing is deflecting. Marner sucks so you say "well look at willy".
Willy having a bad game has nothing to do with Marner having one....or a bunch...or never showing up in games 5 -7.
