It’s no biggie for me, I’m lucky to slam 4 hours a night in. Last night for instance I went to bed at 1am and was up at 5am.
How long does a caffeinated drink hit you? Have one at dinner so it wears off right around when the game finishes if you need it? Or is it more of just getting enough sleep kind of thing? |

I have a tight schedule. I work out a lot, need regular hours, go to bed and get up the same time every day if I can help it. |

This is me. I have to stay up past midnight so I can sleep to 4-430am. If I go to bed at 11, I’m looking at a 3am wake up. I often have 4 to 5 hours in before my coworkers log on.
I sleep like a log for 3 hours but that’s pretty much it.
I don’t think I will be able to sleep longer until I retire. Then when I wake up super early…I’ll just go fishing.
Weekend naps are amazing. I’ll nap more when I retire. |

Oh me too when it comes to wake up time, it’s just my epilepsy and how the left insula lobe fires off non stop, doesn’t let me sleep much at all.
As for the leafs schedule my biggest question is how the week will play out. Will it be Wednesday then a three day wait for Saturday for instance? |

lol sorry that makes me giggle a bit. Dad is 68 (he was married and only 20 when I was born, the 70s were different lol) and still drives transport. Says he’ll nap too much if he retires yet and he’s still fine for driving or now lol.
But yeah I’m like you, if I go to bed early, I’m getting up early, and I used to live off too much coffee but now I try to hold back from that since it makes me a bit too jumpy. If I am up super early I’ll typically just go for a walk around the neighborhood for a bit, thankfully I’m a 6’ 200lb+ guy so I don’t worry about walking around alone in the dark. |

Are you one of those people who think Knies will land $9+ mill as well?
Personally I think that’s an overpayment for a 58P player who was on a line with two top 10 picks who are all stars and usually around 100P each.
I love Knies, I really do, but I also think that’s an overpayment for him. If he was on a line with less talented guys than those 2 it would effect his point production rather notably is my guess. - Dozzer
First, I don't think Knies will get $9M a season, the final amount will probably depend on the term. Second, we should ignore where he was drafted and consider what he brings to this team. Knies has improved every year. He loves being a Leaf! He's humble! He scored some very big goals like this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgb-_W1w0oQ
Knies is already very good, but he's only 22yrs old. $7.5M x 8 would be a good deal for both sides. He's the best LW the Leafs have had for a very long time and his upside is undeniable.

Cap going up, and with max term, I'd put that number closer to 8x8. |

Certainly in the range, with the Leafs being cash rich as opposed to some other teams, they could front load the contract keeping the cap hit down a little.

Helly with an .815 save % and 4.42 GAA
That’s the Chokers 1st team all star stats, right there.
Helley Head Case - Woderwick
But I was told emphatically that Helly is the best goalie in the world currently and his stats were only a result of bad luck and bad bounces.

If you ignore the cap rising just based on the present economic climate, what do you think Knies is worth?
21 years old, 15 goals and 20 assists in 80 games.
22 years old, 29 goals and 29 assists in 78 games.
Just as a contractual comparison Nylander didn't score more goals than Knies in a season until he was 23 - but his point production at age 22 was similar. His contract, awarded in his age 22 season, but before he had surpassed 25 goals was basically 6 x $7m which, in present dollars is $7.75m.
With a projected rising cap, as you suggested, that could reasonably hit $9m over 8 years just based on percentages and projections. It would be nice if it remained lower but I'm pretty sure hockey agents also can do basic math!

Then let him sit. Or take another team’s picks.
He wouldn’t have gotten those points without Matthews and Marner as his linemates, thinking he could do this on another line is where I believe the error would be.

I’d honestly be willing to bet he’d only be a 40P guy on another line. Like I said I love the guy but man oh man I also think his offensive stats are amplified due to who his linemates are.
We’ll see, I’m wrong a lot lol |

Cap projections are actually getting revisited due to what’s going on in our lovely financial world right now, keep that in mind. The positivity from the first half of the season when it comes to the potential “rising cap” might be changing dramatically. We shall see. |

Agents also work for and are employed by the players they represent. If you watched Knies' recent interview with David Amber he is really happy to be here and you have to think his instruction to his agent will be to get it done as opposed to squeeze every dime you can out of these guys.

Yup, that question and also the cap projections might look a lot different than expected depending on how the North American economies are looking by July 1. Things are quite a bit different than when the initial projections were made. I’m rather happy Treliving chose not to resign guys early this year because of it. |

Yup, dont think we will see the cap going up as much as thought as quickly as it was thought. I said when those figures came out that there were several things that could impact it and change it negatively. One of which is happening right now.
But we'll see. Hopefully the cap goes up as expected for next season and then maybe not as much the following years. |

Well, I was hoping he would have signed Knies at the beginning of the season....probably could have had him for 3-4 x $5 per.
Not gonna happen now. |

Well, it’s what I’m wondering tbh. I can see teams in the states not being willing to give up picks to chase down an expensive RFA if tickets sales are more difficult, they aren’t selling as much merchandise, etc etc.
Like I said we will see how the summer is ticking and how it effects things. |

Yup, as a hockey fan I hope things sort themselves out and it goes well, but I won’t pretend to know either.
Out of curiousity what’s your comfort signing a power forward like him long term? I find that a tad iffy myself, I could see him being the type who starts getting hurt in ways at age 26-27 that lessens his game capabilities. I mean I hope not, but I could see it. |
