I think he’s lower down the list than bear, reschny and a handful of other guys where we pick imo. - neem55
Higher ceiling, lower floor than most available in that area. He's probably more valuable to the Canucks even if he doesn't reach his ceiling though. Canucks need a center and they need someone who is going to fight for pucks. I've got 4 projections on how he turns out. Sam Steel, Mikael Backlund, William Karlsson, Robert Thomas. |

Elite prospects ( actual)Braeden Cootes 6-foot 183 pounds (5-foot-11.5 186 pounds)
Cole Reschny 5-foot-10 187 pounds (5-foot-10.75 180 pounds)
Benjamin Kindel 5-foot-10 176 pounds (5-foot-10.25 180 pounds)
Kindel the smallest of the bunch.

Some damn big D available in this draft that's for sure. |

Kindel is the fastest and has the best hands. Seems like a transition guy. Plays better on the attack.
Reschny has the best vision and 1 timer. Big gamer. Has a mean streak. Best all rounder IMHO.
Cootes, best defensively. Not overly fast, but matches well against anyone. Shutdown guy, better passer than shooter.

Those are the reports. More or less depending on how you feel about size and need is where those players are ranked.
I don't know if you seen this but I thought it was kind of interesting to see numbers on a player doing the "cardio merchant" things and was pretty clear that for scoutings reports from the public on players strengths and weaknesses.

I have not heard the words high ceiling associate with Cootes. I have heard middle six center many times, I’d like to aim a bit higher. |

If those are the reports then they agree with what I've seen.
Kindel was more of a winger when I saw him in Calgary. The initial thought was he would be fantastic with a bit more agitation and snarl to his game.
Reschny just gets better and better. He's on a nice upward arc. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes earlier than anticipated. Of the three, he's my guy.
Cootes had a hell of a series against Everett. But Bear was hurt for the Silvertips. He just isn't going to bring a lot of scoring. Which is what Seattle was dying for all year. |

The 15th pick is most likely already gone, I just hope they make some good trades with it and whoever they’re including with it. |

I've found they have been oddly consensus on the players this year. Lack of depth probably why.
Reschny seems to be a fav. He's probably the safest pick. I mean you look at Rossi and how Minny wants to get rid of him and the rumours of underwhelming return. Is Reschny great at 15th then, if you are uncomfortable with the player like Minny is with Rossi? I'd trade down if you could get any one of the 3 later on.
Cootes showed he could score when playing with better line mates at the u18s but also shut down the opposing team as well. Reschny was probably lucky not to be a minus player in that tournament. His line gave up a lot of really good chances against. |

I think trading up in this draft makes more sense than trading down. The cost shouldn't be prohibitive to trade up to 7/8 depending on who is picked.
That's if we don't trade away the pick. |

I think it’s a great spot to see who slips, Lakovic would be great. Bear. There’s a lot of guys that seem to be up in the air 10-20 range, cootes I’ve mostly seen at the bottom of the draft and having seen him play it’s just not a guy I’m high on. |

Kudriatsev is a +14 only on for 1 goal against in the playoffs. They were raving about how well he’s playing on the broadcast. |

...with Pouty in a blockbuster. Whether it will be a good trade, well, we'll see.... - Danny Bomber
I think he’s here to stay. Foote just went golfing with Canuck “leadership group” consisting of Hughes, Pouty, and Demko. Foote has also publicly stated that he believes that Pouty will play a pivotal roll in his systems planning.
Pouty is also front and centre on all the new season ticket marketing for this coming season. That’s not cheap and I don’t see the Canucks spending that kind of money on someone being shopped.
Add that up and I would be stunned if they trade him. |

Depending on whom you are trading up with. Even up to 9th at Buffalo. There ask would probably be a current roster player plus. Not unreasonable. |

Management has put themselves into a bind. Left themselves with little to no options once again. |

Patrick Johnston wrote that in an article.
Another source said management is looking to “get rid of the emotionally soft, diva, drama-type, cancerous players, without doing a traditional rebuild.”

So this is the 3rd? 4th? retool in the past decade now. They couldn't rebuild properly, couldn't stealth tank properly, can't retool properly.
I'm a frustrated fan at this point in time. Unless they can pull off another trade that lands a player like JT Miller for a later first and a third round pick. It's going to be another mid season. |

I think there is still reason for hope, but I'm frustrated too. It does feel like spinning tires, though at least this current management team has made less baffling moves than the last one.
Honestly I think with a (hopefully) full season of Demko, Pettersson returning to form, and Hughes leading the strongest D corps we've seen in a long time, they don't need a complete homerun trade to make the playoffs. They do need to get a solid 2C if they want to do any damage IN the playoffs though. |
