Honestly, if theres a 50/50 chance that Hughes bolts to play with his brothers, we should trade him and start the rebuild now.
- Retinalz

It has to be a consideration. Just imagine all the assets & picks we could get for Hughes EP & Demko.

You should always trade away the best player you’ve ever had

You should always risk getting nothing for the best player you ever had.

He had suggested 50/50 chance & you would gamble?

I would keep Hughes until he tells he’s done. Not even a question.

You sell when the asset is the highest. Which is now. Not after all the inevitable BS drives the bargaining position to crap.

When we have a Jack Adams winning coach walking away, and a member of ownership walking away, there has to be something wrong with this organization.

Yes of course no argument there but has to be before his last season to extract the best deal imo

I'm sure there was some personal motivation there for him, he came through in a big way when it mattered most. The Stars didn't even have Miro Heiskanen or Jason Robertson. They could give anyone in the West a real challenge.

Scary when they get those two back.

Stars vs Panthers finals would be great hockey

You don’t trade superstars until you have to, it’s crazy to have to explain this.

That would definitely be big, fast, physical, heavy, entertaining hockey. Where is that midget Reuby? He's gotta be loving that the Stars won.

Disagree.
Assests in any industry are just that. You don't hold on to a stock, a house, or a hockey player until the asset is depressed then sell. It is made even worse in the hockey player case do to UFA status.
What can this team do in the 4 months before the season starts, based on all of the turmoil, lack of prospects, cap space, etc to possibly convince Quinn to stay? They have to beat, playing with his brothers, in the US, lower taxes, on a way better team, with less travel.
Not a chance the team can turn it around next season, and it would be sheer lunacy to go into his final signed season with him unsigned.
But we all know how this will end....

If you ran a business with this mentality you’d be bankrupt within a year. Loser mentality.

Wrong, I'm not bankrupt.
That is not an answer to the question.
What does or can the team do in 4 months to change an unchangeable situation?
