Dhaliwal: Tocchet talked to Hughes before he made his decision.
I think Tocchet has a pretty good indication about Hughes staying or going...You think he bolted for no reason? I think he knows some stuff that other people don't know.

He gone!! - Pacificgem
Pure speculation... but if that's true, may as well him this summer and get a gargantuan return. Hell even eat half the contract.
Nemec, Silayev, Mercer, 1st.
I wonder if another team would give up more for him (with half retained) than NJ knowing he's likely to leave in two years.

Yep the real teardown is about to begin. So stupid that they wouldn't face the truth earlier and move Boeser for picks. Hopefully they smell what the Rock is cooking and they get out of the Petey deal before July 1.

These were the guys that praised Malholtra for almost being like another coach on the team. Embraced, and respected Malholtraâs word on the bench as a player. Malholtra if anyone is the man to to be able to head the bench and have the best synergy with the twins to get some mastermind coaching going, itâs him.
Hereâs the bit from 3 years ago;
âWhen he steps on the ice right now, I don't think he sees a lot of options,â Henrik Sedin said Friday when asked about Pettersson. âWhen
you have confidence and you're feeling it, you only see Canucks jerseys out there. It's like there's no opponent -- they're out of the way, you
don't even think about where they are. I'm sure he only saw Flyers jerseys out there yesterday. It's maybe tough to understand, but that's
the way it is when you are struggling a little bit. I see ourselves in him when you're not scoring.â
âI hate to hear that because the one thing doesn't take the other thing away,â Sedin told Sportsnet. âYou can play good defence and still score.
For me, that's a non-issue. You can stay above your guy in the defensive zone, you can backcheck hard, you can get pucks deep when you need to, and you can still score.
âI hate to hear that they're focusing too much on defence or they need to score more. No, they have to play well. They have to play a good,
200-foot game. If you do that, you're going to give up fewer chances and you will score. Every time you go through this where you start focusing on defence -- and this is from our experience -- it always takes time for the offence to come. But the problem you run into if you start to focus on defence, and then especially as an offensive player you're not scoring right away, the teams that get in trouble are the teams where your top players can't stand not scoring, so they start cheating and now you're back to square one. You have to be patient.â
The Mindcrime message is just as relevant today as it was in 1988, actually more so now.

I'm just happy they still work even though they're dangling between my kneecaps. I've got it on vinyl. Just about to spin it and clean the kitchen. Not something I would be doing on a Saturday in 1988. Domestication is a slow and silent killer.

Smoke a fatty, enjoy Breaking the Silence, and cleaning you abode.

Intriguing if itâs definitely known heâs bolting. Good thing NJD flops in the POâs & can use change. Bonus Hughes has 2yrs left here to extract the most in any trade. Consecutive Norris nominee & one time winner are super elite.

Have to believe the offers wouldnât been great as PA alluded to. Even a later 2nd in this draft doesnât move the needle greatly but something is better than nothing.

Adding to that come the POâs you have to play well on both sides of the puck for success. If D isnât good you go nowhere & back to square one. 4 rounds to win the cup is a grind that you cannot out score your problems.
From SportsNet: While Pettersson didnât drive Tocchet away, the frustration the coaching staff had with the Canucksâ highest-paid player isnât going to lighten the pressure on Pettersson to show up and perform next season for a different coach.
More players on the team than just J.T. Miller were disappointed with Pettersson, who will need to earn back a lot of trust in order to finish that eight-year, $92.8-million contract in Vancouver. And as general manager Patrik Allvin said at his year-end press conference two weeks ago â âI would be, I guess, stupid not to keep my options openâ â a Pettersson trade before July 1 is still possible. Itâs not a likely outcome or the preferred one for the Canucks, but neither was a Miller trade. - Marwood
Appreciate the actual evidence. I think the team clearly played better after Miller went. I wouldnât be happy with EP as a teammate either, but I donât think thatâs unredeemable and he just needs to get his ass in gear.
