It's time for the Canucks to trade everyone, by that I mean Petey/Hughes/Demko, and start over. The haul from those trades would be franchise altering, significant enough to get a massive head-start on a rebuild/re-tool.
I think you're going to see significant changes with some franchises, Dallas being one of them, although they have a great team, they don't really have a number one center in the category of Barkov or McDavid or Draisaitl. So many of their top guys were absent in the playoffs!! Duchene - one goal, Benn - one goal, Wyatt Johnson - zero's in the Conference Finals, Marchment - one goal.
The Canucks aren't going to win poop in the next two years before Quinn Hughes heads East, time to change things now!! |

Aqua says no. Unfortunately that level of rebuild isn't going to happen with him at the helm. |

Yes, I know, it'd be the smart thing to do...so of course they won't do it. But it's nice to think about it. |

Finn. An experienced one that plays heavy Hockey the way it's meant to be played. Canucks don't have any of those either. - Load Management
Oh I know he’s Finnish/russian. Just was wondering how that factors into the conversation about Canadians being so important. |

Tonight’s game was exciting, very evenly matched teams. Personally I thought Canucks were the better team, they started the game slow, Texas have 5 shots before the Canucks decided to put some offence together. But once they did they came in waves with an oppressive attack. There were times that they got caught pressing with a poor turnover and Texas scored first by Kole Lind of all players. Canucks continued to press and Brisebois tied it with just over a minute left in the period.
In the second Canucks swarmed them and went ahead with a goal by Mueller, then it just felt like they took their foot off the gas and Texas tied the game off a save where it hit Silovs glove and dropped for a rebound shot and goal.
3rd was again dominated by the Canucks but Poirier was outstanding stopping 15 shots in the period, in the end he was 3rd star stopping 43 of 46.
Ot was exciting and the game winner was Karlsson walking around the defender and a pass back to Wolanin to one time it 5 hole from the point.
Great game and can’t wait for Saturday, although now with Dallas eliminated I wonder if there will be players assigned to Texas. - Makita
Thanks. It looked like both teams were flying out there. Not sure if they can sustain that pace. I can see Texas trying to bring it to the boards and turn it into more of a street fight next game. Di Giuseppe finished with 10 shots. Who knew? |

Its pretty simple really. If you think having 1 or 2 Canadians in your lineup isn't a big deal, then it doesn't factor in at all. If you're like me and rightfully think it does, then it becomes one.
Barkov is an entirely different discussion altogether. Not really relevant to the Canucks need for more Canadian players.
You're welcome.

When I look at the Canucks lineup, it's disheartening, it's full of small, soft, slow, mush, they are in tuff if they don't make significant changes at the forward position. The defence is actually not looking too bad, the forwards though... |

I think they’ve made some good moves to address but need to make more. Sherwood, Joshua and Mancini are all guys who have that part of their game that they’ve added the last few years. Need to keep getting more though. |

Could you please post this in the Oilers blog, not one (frank)ing person here gives a poop about your disgusting team. Hope Tkachuk takes out McDinglenuts.
Go Panthers go. - Makita

There's a distinction between big guys who throw huge hits and guys who simply play the game tough. The Panthers don't have nearly as many bruisers as people would have you believe, but their team plays like a group of rabid dogs nearly every minute of every game. |

This - they aren't a massively big heavy team, they just play with a pack mentality. Sam Bennett is 6 foot 190 lbs, he's not exactly a behemoth of a man. Verhaeghe is 6'2" 185 lbs, Lundell is 6'1" 195 lbs, Rodrigues is 5'11" 180 lbs...these have been important players for them and they aren't giants.
Look who's at the bottom for average weight.

It comes down to coaching and the whole team buying in. They play dirty, they play skilfully, they play fast. It's a wonder they're not exhausted to be honest, I dunno how they're able to maintain it through the whole playoffs |

Loady I tried to get to Rimouski for Wednesday's game but traffic was intense and there were cops everywhere. When I realized I wouldn't make the game or miss a decent part of it I pulled over in Drummondville after over 600km of driving that day.
Unfortunately my wife wasn't able to handle parenting on her own so I had to come home instead of being there this weekend.... or at least tonight.
Oh well, probably saved $1500 instead of staying for a few days. |

At least you tried. I think you might have made the wise choice going back home to your Wife. Sometimes you gotta play the long game. |

It was another 400KM drive and it was about 3.5 hours until puck drop. In retrospect I wish I would have toughed it out to Quebec City even if the that's where the worst of the traffic was.
The city is beautiful, great place. I recommend a trip there for anyone that reads this if you've never been. |

Finnish hockey is awesome, always has been. It's by far the most similar to Canadian hockey IMO.
There are less than 6M people in Finland, amazing hockey country. |
