Yes, because a player making 11.6 million dollars that scores 1 goal in the playoffs, and 45 points the following season, is quite beneficial to the team.
Forget that after reffing him and Miller for 2 years, his Coach felt he had to fly to Sweden to check on his fitness, when he could be spending that time and energy focusing on team things. But hey, it's Petey let's give him the benefit of the doubt. He's earned it.

Ya'll are a bit dramatic though.

Petey has to stay, and mgmt has to bank on his returning to a ppg player.
The alternative of moving him for peanuts isn't an option imo.
So yeah, you do whatever you have to, to make sure that happens.
Flying staff to Sweden to follow up with him included.

This is all pretty factual stuff. He'll also get skewered next season he doesn't hit the ground running. How do you think he'll react to that?

I honestly don't care if he stays or leaves. But the reality is management is risking an even more drama filled season with their comments about Hughes and banking on Petey returning to form.

Yeah, it's definitely a roll of the dice for mgmt.
If he falters, heads will roll.
I expect him to have a much-improved season, with a coach who is more offensively orientated.

Ya i agree, it's the better option. You dont sell things when their value goes down, that's panicy and impatient business.

It's true. I do think they will bring in some vets to help them get steady, build around what you have.

Sorry to change the subject here. But Reschny just scored his 3rd in 2 games of the medal round. From Verhoeff again. Verhoeff has been promoted to 1st pairing and is getting a lot of icetime.

Back to the Canucks. I think the room lacked winners last year. I don't think there was anyone in the group with a Cup ring. Just the Coaching staff and now that's gone. For a team that hasn't had much playoff success I think it's important to have this.

Reading between the lines of what Rutherford and Allvin said at the season ending presser, Petey did a poor job of communicating to the team how his body was doing last offseason. He was more injured than they knew, and he failed to tell them as much and use the teams resources to correctly address the problem. Now it is up to him to learn his lesson and prepare better this year. You guys are being incredibly dramatic acting like he's destroying the team from within.

I'm wondering when you'll stop giving him a free pass.

I understand that much of the female doging about him is overblown. However, so were many of the proclamations that he was the 2nd coming.

At what point are you going to finally say enough is enough and expect the player to be a professional and start earning his MASSIVE contract?

If he hasn't started living up to his pay check by Christmas? Valentine's Day? Easter?

If Pettersson has another disaster season he will want to leave and the no-trade clause won't matter anyway.

All eyes on the Q these next few days. If Rimouski wins it's them and Moncton at the Memorial Cup.

It's looking like Medicine Hat from the W. I'm pretty sure Spokane doesn't have the Goaltending to hang with them in the final.

Verhoeff is gonna be a stud too. We're lucky to have them here for the next couple of years. Can't wait for next season.

London and Oshawa are both really good teams from what I've seen. What London does is almost criminal.

This is the 1st time I heard this. I honestly can't see it happening based on my experiences in dressing rooms. But I can guarantee if the players have issues with management, there's still issues in the room.

For example, I doubt Hughes is pleased about Rutherford letting the press know he wants to play with his brothers. Petey is another story. After what he helped do to this team over the last 18 months I can't believe people still defend him.

- Load Management

Fickle how fans believe teams should be transparent then complain about it in one way or another or complain if not transparent. No winning

No practice facility & a meddling loser of an owner it starts there & goes downhill from there.

As for Petey he cannot get it through his head it’s FIFO. He’s in the entertainment business & well compensated. He’s a different cat & under the microscope. If the heat is too hot for him then waive his NMC entirely after July 1st so JR/PA have all options & he can go where the heat isn’t on him in a less intense market. Idk Utah or CBJ.

It's bizarre. They've kinda got a floating policy for the, "What happens in the room stays in the room", rule. Same with the, "It's foolish to negotiate in the press". They've created their own set of double standards. That never sits well with employees.

Poor Hughes is gonna get blitzed next season everywhere he goes with questions about him wanting out to New Jersey. Anyone with a shred of foresight can see that. So why put it on him?

- Load Management

Probably true but NJD are not exactly going anywhere with Jack. Often injured & no playoff success. Is it possible a Hughes come here in a Petey deal?

My theory is that they are self-destructing to say "Fuck you!" to Aquilini for not letting them do the trades they wanted to do.
- Marwood

Maybe true cuz meal tickets are what slum lords want & JR/PA need the autonomy or they are lame ducks. Have to believe dimwit JB was in that position looking at all of his moves to force a retool pushing for the playoffs & not long term & why TL stepped down. JB not the brightest only set back the team.

This.
I don't get it.
Seems like JR and PA talk too much.

I read some analyst suggesting the opposite though, that JR is too experienced to accidentally mention anything. Not sure what the end game would be here tho.

- dbot

I read between the lines JR would like to fully state his view on EP. Holds back only cuz of FA. I wouldn’t doubt he along with Miller were up for trades. This soap opera will continue if Petey doesn’t grow up fast. No runway is left.

I began my rant on EP in late November of 2023. Well before his PO no show. That WAS the genesis of all the proceeding fall out. Yes I spammed this blog ad nauseum about him. I caught flack left right & centre about it. Sort of deserved I guess. Idc about being right but that was the time to move him & forget about him changing his personality or maturity or whatever. Now we are basically stuck with the hope he reinvents himself.
