I genuinely mean this. Someone needs to start a fight for the leafs in the first 5 mins of tomorrow’s game. If that happens the leafs will be fine. If not who the (frank) knows? - Dozzer
I think the key is surviving the first 10 minutes... Despite the pathetic effort on Tuesday, they were outshooting Ottawa 14-4 when a long deflection goes in.
Then Matthews and Lorentz miss glorious opportunities to tie the game, a bad pass on a hesitant-looking PP... and the game's over.
They just need time to get out of their head, and then some urgency on the forecheck.
That's what I am telling myself anyway. |

The leafs were playing fine. Just completely without confidence. Let’s see if they can overcome this burden, it’s truly this team’s back-breaker. |

I’d love that.
But if they do that, they’ll only do it once and consider it some kind of big victory. It’ll be 75 games before they do it again.
Therein lies the problem. |

That's the part I like.
Reminds me back when Domi or Roberts would pick up a sluggish leaf team with a couple of solid hits!
Bingo, the rest of the team came to life.
How come we don't have those moments anymore? |

Because Dubas traded Kadri in the worst trade in Leafs history.

They need to score first
Score a powerplay goal
Score more goals than the sens.....preferably 4 more goals. |

I came across this:
Leafs 1 - 13 in series clinching games
Matthews
4 goals, 9 pts
Marner
0 goals, 5pts
Rielly
3, goals, 4pts
Nylander
2 goals, 11 pts
Also, matthews has 2 in the past 14 playoff games.
Lets hope the above changes (willy and morgan have been decent to good) |

Also on the main blog comments a Devils fan posted this when ranting and god dammit it's hard to feel sorry for him. He was saying how greedy the Devil's organization was for these playoff ticket prices.
1st round $147 per seat/game
2nd: $306 per seat/game
3rd: $508
Cup: $800!
I just got rid of my game 7 seats in the 300 level - face value for the pair was $943 Cdn. Ticketmaster has standing room seats for game 7 now (re-sale) and the cheapest are over $500 Cdn.
I did see something interesting for game 7 that is new today I think - Leafs must have released more tickets at face value. The gondola boxes have face value tickets now for sale. I have always wanted to see the view from WAAAAAAAAAAAAY up there but they are selling these seats for $668 Cdn each - that's insane!

It wasnt the worst trade in Leafs history
Dubas traded a playoff plague of a 2nd line center (who was now our 3rd center) who averaged 39 to 60pts a year, a 3rd rounder and a throw in for a top 4 Dman (which the leafs desperately needed) who averaged 38 - 59pts per year, a 3rd line center who averaged 40pts a year, a 6th rounder and got the avs to eat half the cap of one of the players.
On paper, a pretty good deal.
Then Babs ruined Barrie, 2 years later Kadri had one great year with the avs, and Kerfoot had one great year with the leafs.
Great trade on paper when it occurred, ended up being not the best trade for the leafs.
But the worst in history? Nope. |

Agreed - the Kadri that won a cup with the Avs and is in Calgary now is not the Kadri that the Leafs had and personally I don't think he would have become the player he is now if he had remained a Leaf.
He's matured and stopped doing the stupid stuff that got him suspended in Toronto far too often and changed his reputation. I also think much like Bunting once that reputation was applied it's much harder for a player to shake off when they are a Leaf due to the volume of media attention that comes in Toronto.

You guys have the craziest revisionist history
Kadri is still really good. He’s always been really good. Leafs lost that trade no matter how you slice it. Kerfoot and Barrie are nowhere near the player Kadri is, and both have faded into oblivion. Kadri was a crucial part of COL’s cup win. |

How is it possible that the guy who is ass, the biggest nancy in the league, and should have been traded for nothing a million times over, plays on the 2nd line with a rotating cast of left wingers can possibly have the most points in series clinching games?
Is it because he shows up when the chips are down?
Is this voodoo statistical trickery you have stated here?
The reality is none of those stats from any of those players just has been good enough to get this team to the next level.
That being said 11 points in 13 games from a 2nd line winger in series clinching games is probably something most NHL teams would be happy with.
If I was going to be angry with these players and their lack of production in these games I would look at their salary and what they should do vs have done and for me the who is the most to least guilty or to blame would exactly the order you listed them - Matthews, Marner, Rielly and Nylander.
JT is in there somewhere I'm sure I just don't know what he has or hasn't done in those 13 games aside from being the only guy to score a goal to get them a series win. lol

Kadri's playoff stats in Toronto and with the Avs.
19 playoff games as a Leaf he had a whopping 3 goals and 7 assists & let's not forget the suspensions that hurt his team.
He has some impressive PIM's though that sure helps you win.......

I just want a win tonight - but that does end up with us getting the Florida wussy cats yes.
Money making tip of the day Leaf fans - Proline Moneyline - Match bet right now pays 2 to 1 for a Leafs win.
Zezzie - invest your nest egg and retire early!!!!! lol
Also screw the odds makers betting against our Leafs.
By the end of the night tonight I will be happy as a pig in poop and $40 richer or in a blind rage and drinking away my pain and $40 poorer.
Scratch that last part I'm walking away from this day and evening happier and richer than I am right now.

Dude don't let nerves ruin this for you and make you miserable!
You have a chance to watch the leafs clinch a series and that's amazing!
Have a blast and as hard as it is to not feel sick to your stomach with nerves just remember this is not a do or die for the Leafs - that hopefully helps!
Enjoy the atmosphere & the amped up feeling in the air outside the rink and inside.
Find a group of Leaf fans near you in the stands to celebrate with and WHEN the Leafs do win ignore the angry Sens fans who will want to engage you and the drunken idiot ones who will want to try and get into fights.
