Somehow not mentioned on here today, Will Cuylle had a goal and an assist today in a 5-1 Canadian win.

Edit:
And it was a beauty!!

From the left circle. That means Zibanejad is blocking his development!

Id think Panarin and LAF would be ahead of Cuylle playing there, atleast on PP1. Ive been on that Cuylle bandwagon since day 1, I think he could be a 30/30/200 type of player.

Pretty solid explanation from Modano about the difference between playoffs and regular season for guys like Matthews.

Not that he was terrible (Thompson), but I always thought they were a pretender because of goaltending. They couldn’t score like we couldn’t score tho. Ovie was a no show

OV was a liability for the Caps. They couldn't do anything with him on the ice.

Team averaged less than 20 shots per night (96 total across 5 games)

Although I said it in jest, I don't see Cuylle panning out as a top-line winger. He can succeed playing on a second line on a regular basis.

I think he can be a top line winger if the guys with him are the primary scorers, and hes the guy going in and doing all the dirty work. A bit like what Kreider did years ago, but with a better shot.

Which really sums up the difference between regular season and the playoff where you play the same team for at least a week.

Right.

And now both Carberry and Keefe have said that the Canes are the easiest team to game plan against because you know exactly what you're going to get every time. Problem is can you actually stop it?

Well, they're not necessarily wrong, you do know what you're going to get from the Canes. A straight down the ice offense that shoots the puck with reckless abandon and a solid defense. You're not going to out Carolina Carolina. Playing the Hurricanes the only real strategy that you can implement is an Ali v Foreman "rope-a-dope". The Rangers did it well. They kept them on the outside and forced them to take bad shots because they knew that puck was coming in no matter from where.

Right. you have to give them the outside, beat them to rebounds and really pressure the points to create odd man rushes. You can out-skill them for sure and counterpunch them to death.

He’s had 30 pts in his last 30 playoff games

12 pts in 13 playoff games last year

The last time he was in the playoffs before last season was 2020

We’re better than this, dude.

The difference is though JT Miller wasn’t making 8.5 million a year those first 60 playoff games. Dubois is right now. Since Miller got paid he has been great
