I don’t buy that one season leads into the next…where I think you guys are feeling that will happen
Next year already has
-a new coach (that is praised by virtually everyone in hockey).
-a signed goalie (thats what will draw players to NY, having an elite goalie)
-new kids on the block- with a decent amount of promise
-the have plenty of depth where we don’t have the Wheelers, Boninos, etc
(That’s imperative to winning, rolling 4 lines)
So we need a few things.
Nothing outlandish to ask Summer Santa for:
-sign Cuylle, and probably Kandre
-3C or 1RW and 1LHD
-They need a captain (I read Fox may get it)
-most importantly, they need to forget this season happen lol
Cheer up fellas - Slimtj100
So all we need is a #1 RW and #1 LD?
Gotcha, thats easy, I mean we have been looking for a #1RW for what a few years now, should be easy.

Salary is number one. And moving on from the east west/perimeter identity. He’s the most east west guy in the NHL imo, he’s definitely up there. It’s nothing against him as a player
The offense sucked this year imo. He wasn’t great either, it’s under the radar because everyone else was worse. It’s gonna be a different look. Toronto is similar. They are more north south, and having some success now where maybe they can beat Florida.
Florida series opened up the eyes of Drury more than anything imo. It was glaring how he needed to change things, on the fly essentially, because we we’re not good enough - Slimtj100
Panarin being moved only makes sense if you can get a haul. I think at this point Kreider and zib being moved are essentially cap relief moves and really changing the make up of the team. Panarin way more effective than both of them. Panarin just can’t be the best player on your team. You won’t win a cup like that.
In reality kreider easiest and only one probably moved. Rangers have a lot of bad contracts that are hard to move. Not sure Drury can make much noise

Are we better with Zib at C, running 3 centers or with him at RW? |

I think he’s better as a winger now. Less responsibility. But maybe Sullivan thinks that way. To me Lavy ruined what Zib was. Zib wasn’t this player under any other coach
3C could even be JBrod/Jusso combo and play by ear at TDL. Not sexy really but it’s not necessarily dire there.
1LHD is dire. That is priority number one to figure out |

How about at the deadline if the Rangers are in the mix? To me, holding on to him (if he’s willing to be traded) is essentially treating him as our own rental. So keeping him in place of getting a 1st and prospects back. If Drury adds a player at the deadline for a 1st and prospects, and it doesn’t lead to a cup, Drury sucks. So if he doesn’t Trade Panarin, and they don’t win a cup, does Drury suck then?
This isn’t directed at you btw, but it just feels like people play both sides of the coin and are never satisfied.

I dont think you can trade Panarin without bringing another scorer back in the fold. Picking up Miller should not be considered the pickup to substitute it. Miller should be considered the guy that takes the lead, and makes Panarin the "2nd" best player on the team. Also, it gives us 2 scoring lines. LAF hasnt done enough to make anyone believe that he can fill those skates if they were to move Panarin. Also, the thing I dont like about playing Zib at RW is it now puts a roadblock in front of Gabe to play in the top 6. Gabe has no business playing in the bottom 6, hes not that type of player. |

You don’t win by having multiple 100 pt players on a roster. If someone can find the post I made, I think I went back to the last 12-15 cup winners, not a single one of them had a player with over 100 pts in the regular season the year they won the cup. The “replacing points” narrative is nonsense.
You replaced the pts with Miller, and will replace them with guys like Laf getting more PP time, Cuylle getting more PP time etc. You still have 60-70 pts from Zib. |

I never said anything about 100 pts, all I said is the scoring needs to be replaced and I havent seen anything out of LAF to make me believe that he can. |

It depends what Drury wants to do with him, if he wants to resign him then he wont trade him, if his intentions are to let him walk, I think they ask him to waive but he holds all the cards so I dont think it will be a great windfall. |

The problem trading Panarin at the TDL is the salary is much harder to take on in season. Even half retained is almost 6 million bucks. Teams, or contenders, don’t usually have that much cap space without some serious finagling at TDL time. |

They’ll find a way to make room if he became available. I agree his highest value will be at the deadline, might even have to get a 3rd team involved to retain 50% also.
Panarin could be a great addition to a team like VGK, LAK.
What about Panarin and Othmann to LAK for Byfield and a 2026 2nd.
Cuylle Miller Byfield could be a very difficult/physical/tough line to play against. |

No way LA moves Byfield foe a pending FA. Othmann hasnt shown he is ready for the NHL yet. |

Ya Holland doesn't like to trade away good futures for guys with no term. About the only guy he did that with was Henrique last year when he gave up a 1st and 5th for him and Carrick. But Henrique also waived to come here so Holland was hoping there would be a chance he'd stick around and it was time to go all in.
LA isn't ready to go all in. I mean I hope Holland doesn't think they are ready

man I remember very well before 1994 the feeling of desperation like it was never gonna happen
Leafs fans have got to be absolutely dying right now, they've traded their next 3 first rounders, Marner and Tavares are pending UFAs heading to Florida for a game 6
desperate times for sure |

Weak soft leaders.
Tavares Nylander Marner Mathews, softer than soft.
FLA is led by Tkachuk Ekblad Bennett |
