You have never heard (read) me say anything about another GM. Matter of fact, I dont think anyone on this board has even mention another GM in a long time.

So all those conversions we had about getting rid of Trouba were waste of time? That sucks. You were a part of those conversions

How was he supposed to get rid of him without hurting the feels of everyone?

- Slimtj100

I was there with ya'll that we needed his cap hit gone.

Did you not read the post at all when I said it wasnt an urgent matter? He didnt have to do what he did, when he did, how he did it. Simple.

He wanted to do it before the season but his wife (frank)ed that up. Trouba had to get off the team this season after all that was the problem, because he gave up on the org. I think it 100% was urgent. They weren’t wining this year anyway. We know this because the last 3 years we were not good enough, with him leading the way

We could go and on about this. It’s over with, you guys just can’t let poop go. It’s hysterical

His wife didnt screw anything up. Screwing definitely happened. His wife got pregnant during COVID, setting her residency back a year.

He gave up on the org because the org made it very clear they had no interest in keeping him around and made it public.

They were doing what the fans wanted (dumping Trouba)

When did it become public? Because of the residency thing. I’m not bashing the wife btw, it’s just the part people gloss over. Drury had no choice once the season started

But thats the thing, he did have a choice. He didnt have to go all in on Trouba in June. Like I said, he could have played his cards close to his chest. Players with a NTC have to submit a list at the beginning of the season anyway.

I disagree what can I tell ya. The cat was already out of the bag. I don’t think it really changes things anyway, they were a cluster(frank) with him here too.

The bottom line is the trade off of Trouba to Miller is a tremendous upgrade on the ice, which is all that should matter. That’s ultimately what Drury pulled off this year, which is really good in the grand scheme of things. That 8 million dollars is well spent now

As annoyed as I am with Drury, at this point it is what it is and we will see what the off-season holds.

Fk Drury, Sullivan needs to figure out who is buying in and who is checked out. It will be the first step forward.

I don’t buy that one season leads into the next…where I think you guys are feeling that will happen

Next year already has

-a new coach (that is praised by virtually everyone in hockey).
-a signed goalie (thats what will draw players to NY, having an elite goalie)
-new kids on the block- with a decent amount of promise
-the have plenty of depth where we don’t have the Wheelers, Boninos, etc
(That’s imperative to winning, rolling 4 lines)

So we need a few things.

Nothing outlandish to ask Summer Santa for:

-sign Cuylle, and probably Kandre
-3C or 1RW and 1LHD
-They need a captain (I read Fox may get it)
-most importantly, they need to forget this season happen lol

Cheer up fellas

My favorite scenario is

Panarin out. Kreider and Zib in.. those are the 3 players in question. I think everyone else is back.

Rangers have plenty of good hockey players they just need to gel into a cohesive team again

Why Panarin out? Just curious to the rationale. Is it because you think that can win with him? Receiving value for him with one year left on deal and opinion is they won’t re-sign him? Making room for the kids?
To be clear, I have no issue making room for the kids but you sure as heck better have a safety valve if they are not ready because if not, the offense will massively suffer

Salary is number one. And moving on from the east west/perimeter identity. He’s the most east west guy in the NHL imo, he’s definitely up there. It’s nothing against him as a player

The offense sucked this year imo. He wasn’t great either, it’s under the radar because everyone else was worse. It’s gonna be a different look. Toronto is similar. They are more north south, and having some success now where maybe they can beat Florida.

Florida series opened up the eyes of Drury more than anything imo. It was glaring how he needed to change things, on the fly essentially, because we we’re not good enough

I do wonder about Eichel if Vegas loses to Edmonton. He is a UFA next summer and if he doesn’t want to negotiate a new contract this summer will they look to move him? Or just run it back on the last year of his deal and hope he will remain when he hits UFA status

I still think he is Drury’s ultimate end game. He was close to getting him when Buffalo traded him to Vegas. It’s why I just don’t see rangers extending Panarin. His money will go right to Eichel if he hits UFA next summer

Eichel was 4th in Calder voting in his draft year behind

Panarin
X
McDavid

You’ll never guess player x without looking it up. I still don’t understand how McDavid lost it even with alll the games he missed. But to be THIRD behind this guy. Crazy
