Is that what Kakko costs? A bottom half defenseman?
- aecliptic

Kakko is a fringe 2nd/3rd line player at this point of his career. People still treat him like the 2nd overall pick he was like 5 years ago. He doesn’t have that value

Oh no, I dont treat him like a 2nd overall pick. Im not saying were getting top tier prospects or whatever... however.. getting a bottom half dman and a 3rd is weak.

How many times do those middle six players go for late 1st / 2nd round picks. As I said, it was a knee jerk move.

Again, for the 21213087753802 time.

Its not the fact that we have these people, its the cost at which they have come. (except Miller, regardless of opinions on whether or not it was right, the cost was solid)

We’ve given up what exactly? Picks and Kakko. Chytil was an accident waiting to happen. Kakko would be redundant right now anyway. And we’d have to pay him too ffs. All these guys came up around the same time

AGAIN, youre fixated on what. Im talking about how and when. Secondly, Im not talking about the Miller trade.

Kakko is 4 years younger with draft pedigree. Too me one is a middle six winger and the other is a middle pair defenseman. I don’t really see an issue but that is just me

Ok, then where do you see Schneider?

Good question, pretty similar to Borgen honestly. Although I am hoping him playing through the torn labrum the last 2 years is a big reason why he hasn’t progressed like we hoped. So maybe finally being healthy next year will help

This doesnt work like it does with forwards.

In that is where I see the problem. Assuming they continue progressing Schneider, that makes Borgen the 3rd RHD. You dont make moves like that with/for 3rd pairing guys.

With the cap increasing 4.1 million for Borgen doesn’t bug me. Also who knows Schneider could be used as trade bait this summer since I doubt miller is traded now

Playing your offside defensively just doesnt work like it does when youre a forward. Look around the league, its not a thing.

I mean it’s not terrible to do this

Schneider
Fox
Borgen

That’s a great right side. Schneider either needs to be traded for a lefty, or move up in 5 on 5 minutes over Fox

Well, Im pretty confident, Dumoulin will be a Ranger. If you trade Schneider, who do you trade him for? Months ago, I was suggesting flipping Schneider for Byram... flipping a righty for a lefty, but Dumoulin is a LHD also who is still very capable of playing top 4 minutes. On KAM, does he deserve the 5-6m extension he will likely ask for?

I would love to get Byron. That extension for miller scares me some. It’s going to be interesting to see what they do to upgrade

The swap Id make, which will make a certain someone here very happy...

Schneider <> Byram
Sign Dumoulin
KAM <> Kesselring

Then you can run...

Byram, Kesselring
Dumoulin, Fox
______, Borgen

I think they’ll be able to get Key to agree on two years

Much like they did with Kakko. Like alright this is it, we don’t believe in you just yet

Byram for Schneider I’m not sure there has ever been a more sensible and logical deal for two teams

If Mika agrees to waive his NMC I could care less what we get back. Getting cap relief is good enough for me

How can that be? Kakko had two 2 year deals didn’t he? After the ELC
