Unmentioned tonight in the Marner / Nylader love / hate fest was that Scott Laughton was really good tonight and I thought JT was excellent.

Stollie definitely gets the nod for Tuesday after his game tonight.

Domi is in playoff mode and willing to do what it takes.

Robertson was good and more physical than I’ve ever seen him - he clearly wants to stick in the line up and seems willing to do what it will take which is great.

Leafs just need to tighten up defensively, especially in front of their own net.

I’m hoping Reilly scoring gets him back to the offensive d-man he’s paid to be, his defensive game isn’t great but if he can be the offensive threat he’s been in prior playoffs that would be amazing.

- Cush29

Agreed
Laughton was pretty good.
Stollie plays every game until chokes really badly, not even a question. Even if he loses a game, put him back him.

I cant watch those guys.
They try so hard to prove they arent pro Toronto they simply cannot be satisfied with anything

Ya it’s pretty obvious but laughable in some ways.

I wish we had Joe Bowen on TV. He’s an unapologetic Leaf homer & why shouldn’t we have one of those on the air?

Its so nice to be on the other side of the whining about the refs

Sens led the league in penalty diff the last 3 years. no doubt that tide turns.

its weird feeling like the leafs are the playoff vets in a series

Sens just took offensive zone penalties, which kills you every time.

I don't think the Sens can match up with 34 and JT down the middle. The Sens just aren't that good. The Leafs have 4 players who are better than the Sens best player.

No Reevo needed.

Sens don’t have a heavyweight and the 4th line tonight for the Leafs was fantastic.

I’m not sure Reaves isn’t just insurance for injuries.

It’s crazy that the Wild have a D man making his NHL debut tonight.

- Cush29

Reaves is there to be with the boys and play some tunes. Leafs have enough men in their lineup to handle business.

ill hold off any celebrations, we've seem this movie before. hope a different ending.
The Sens tilted the 5v5 play, maybe because of the score most of the night..but something to watch, as the series goes on and the whistles get shoved up the refs butts

That's the just the panel talking, they have barf bags under their seats, just in case they say too many nice things about a convincing win.

But definitely score effects: the Sens were down 2-0 early and most of their shots were on the outside. Leafs did a good job keeping everything to the outside for most of the game.

I didnt watch any of the panel or game "analysis" just looking at money puck and NST this morning. even with score/venue adjusted the sens had slight 5v5 adv

Yes, Sens had a very few good looks on 5v5, amount of shots is misleading.
The next game they will be more disciplined and score will be more even, but Leafs have all tools to win anyway.
This is much better than SN pathetic panel:

I agree with that. I think that, at 5v5, our top 6 wasn't actually playing great. Domi had a few bad giveaways, Tavares and Nylander weren't clicking on passes, which was strange.

Bottom 6 was excellent though.

That 4th line?

We have been in this long enough to understand that does not matter in the slightest

Seems to me that happens when a team is behind the entire game. One time is pressuring and pinching and the other team tones down the forecheck.

Ya - especially when Stutzle was on the ice ...mostly against 34's line. They didn't get a tonne of high danger but they (and Sanderson) kept 34/16 from being dangerous at 5v5 most of the night.

Laughton's line might have been the best highlight. They went toe to toe with Cozens line all night and faired well.

JT's line looked better when they flipped Domi for Holmberg (small sample). Wonder if he'll stick with that.

i think the opposite, we have seen this... as the series go longer, the penalties dry up and the 5v5 play is more important.

the PP needs to be a factor, past series they have been awful, tread water at evens and win the PP time.
