Friedman reports that Toc is not returning to Vancouver. Which sucks imo.
Major fail for Canucks mgmt.
Yet another reset.
Ugh. - dbot
At this point, you might aswell start taking offers on Hughes as I'm doubtful he is wanting to stick around for this crap show.
Maybe a more offensive minded coach is what Petey needs to get his offensive game back. |

I’d listen, but would probably want to wait till next year and try my darnedest to get him to extend.
If it’s a hard no, you move him then to the highest bidder.
And we put that Simon and Garfunkel song on repeat. |

“After a very long and thorough process, unfortunately Rick has decided to leave the Vancouver Canucks,” said president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford in the the team's statement. “This is very disappointing news, but we respect Rick’s decision to move to a new chapter in his hockey career. We did everything in our power to keep him, but at the end of the day, Rick felt he needed a change. He is a good friend, a good coach, and we can’t thank him enough for all he did for our organization. Toc is a stand-up guy, and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward.” |

A Bridge over troubled Waters? Seems like a fitting song for this hapless bunch |

Wow. Even your head coach doesn't want to stay with the team. Bye bye Hughes. |

Very few coaches would be an improvement over Tocc... but there are some. I wonder if Tampa loses, if they would let Cooper go. Sullivan seems like a wash.
The stakes for the offseason just ramped up another notch. |

Hughes made a point of telling the press how much he liked Tocchet and wanted him back. Looks like Pouty is gone by July 1 and Hughes will get traded next season.
First class organization. |

Aqua is the root cause of it all.
If Hughes isn't happy, trade him this season. Maximize the return and start from scratch (with a new owner). |

Won't happen, he'll force JR/PA to hold on to Hughes until it's too late to trade him (or whoever he hires to replace them when inevitably we miss the playoffs again next year). Aqua wants to chase those playoff dollars to the detriment of the long term success of the team. |

Was listening to the JR press conference (PA was away watching a u18 tournament).
A few takeaways:
JR called Hughes after learning Toc was leaving. Hughes hasn't returned his call yet.
JR was unsure if assistant coaches will stay or if a new HC will want to bring in their own guys.
Malholtra will be shortlisted as an option.
Sullivan wants to stay on the east coast and doesn't sound like a realistic option for Van.
JR notes that he values hiring people he has a relationship with. Laviolette has a relationship with JR, but not PA who will ultimately make the decision.
JR wants to hire a HC asap to help shape the roster changes going forward.

I was 4 days to early.
This is going to be fun to watch. I'm also interested to hear what the Knee Pad Gang has to say about it. |

Better yet Hughes takes Aquilini for coffee and tells him "Fu ck You!!" |

That's been the MO for 15 years and it ain't changing, all we can hope for now is FA getting on a poorly maintained helicopter. |

And just because Toc is gone that equals Hughes gone? ok
Just curious if your Delorean does in fact go to the future once you hit 88MPH?? Did you get to chat with Biff? Did he willingly give you the almanac?
"Pouty is gone by July 1 and Hughes will get traded next season. First class organization" - this is my absolute fav move from "fans" - blaming the org. for things that haven't happened yet!!
First class fans!!

It'll be Malholtra - he's been brewing now for 7 years.
Lots of praise this season about how he's doing great in Abby and that his structure and system align with Tocs - hopefully Foote and Gonchar stick around. IF not, big deal, it's not the be all end all. |

I could see MM coming in.
Not sure if Foote/Gonchar would stay on tho.
According to Dhali: Adam Foote's contract is up - I believe he has permission to talk with other teams. |

How about them. Oilers have stormed back from down 2 games to a tied series. Oil in 6.
