How dare you exercise logic to make a point!!

We all know that once a player hits 26 years old - thats who they are forever. It becomes impossible to improve. Thats just basic grade 10-12 science.

BUT Its really weird how a player like Crosby for example - when he was 23,24, 25 those three seasons were riddled with serious injuries that most said he'd never return from, or at least ever be the player he once was. He only played 41, 22, 36 games those years and then when he was 26 he miraculously had a bounce back season - scored 104 points and has had 12 monster seasons since. He's an outlier tho.

I wonder if any other player in the history of the NHL ever bounced back from ONE poor season at the midway point of their career?? Probably not, based on Driftwood logic.

While were on history. Crosby has also done nothing but take team friendly contracts throughout his entire career. I'd list the awards he's won throughout but they're simply too numerous. But 3 cups.

Sure he was hurt from time to time, he had a few concussions and a broken jaw. Did it stop him from training or did he use them as an excuse? To compare Petey to Crosby is arguably one of the more ridiculous things I've read on here.

Petey may or may not bounce back but he's got a long way to go before he's a first ballot hall of famer. Maybe come up for air every once in a while.

Let's ignore the fact that in the beginning Crybaby Crosby was a thing of course, he had his share of flaws just like Petey does, the difference is that he's Canadian and vocal and Petey is not. But lets be disingenuous by all means.

Salaries are going up, it’s just part of the reality of hockey. We’re going to see some big contracts this summer and it’s not a time to be stingy! Cap is up, salaries go up.

I believe the insult of choice at the time was to call him Cindy Crosby, because, you know, women!

EP has a long way to carry Sids jock strap. Start with all focus is towards team & other biz at another team. Strength & speed & all other aspects as Sid constantly works on. There is a huge reason Sid is a captain & not only about cups.

Of course the cap goes up but idc it doesn’t mean any UFA is entitled to a proportional raise. Internal cap structure comes 1st.

3 Cups to catch those tears. I'll gladly ignore the flaws with Petey after 1. Until then...

I don't think the original post was to compare accolades/careers of Crosby and Patterson, but to point out that players can grow and develop.

It actually does, the price of players goes up every year because a bunch of teams want to pay them. It’s why 8mil will actually not be that high of a contract in a few years.

That’s how I read it too. Barkov is a good comparison, took a long while before he really got into being what he is now. Patience is a virtue… unless you have way too much time on your hands.

That’s all fine but internal caps ignore cap increases at times & players walk. What the market pays UFA’s is what it is. Term is entirely different story & the sticking point for Brock. 5/8m is liveable more term not really unless at a discount PA can live with. Brock walking might be necessary to retool on the fly & not over only 1 offseason either.

The remade D is looking fine & maybe Willander makes it deeper. Demko healthy is a big plus. EP a fresh start after a big offseason training a must.

Idk it’s my point of view til something else gives. Idk what will happen with Suter Raty & Leki or more.

My guess is PA moves on from Aman & Juulsen. Karlsson probably depth down in Abby.

I don't see anywhere near the same competitive spirit when I compare them at any points of their respective careers.

IF Petey magically comes up with that then we can talk about them in more parallel terms.

id rather spend on a center, all im saying is that you can’t compete with other teams if you want to wussyfoot around

It actually was.

Brooks used Crosby as a comparison to Petey.
