I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the last college coach the Flyers had

I dunno think Hakstol was ok. He got Seattle into the playoffs the one year and did fairly well with them given the lack of talent on the team

Dream scenario. Flyers end up with 5th pick, but win the lottery and get the first overall pick. With that pick the Flyers draft Schaefer and get their potential 1D. Then the Sharks have the second pick and since they are loaded at center already, they trade their 2nd overall pick to the Flyers trade for York and their two remaining 1st round picks. With the 2nd ovrerall pick the Flyers either pick Misa or Hagens, thus they get their potential 1C. Now the new developing core is Schaefer, Drysdale, Bonk, Hagens/Misa, Michkov and Luchanko. I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue

LOL..did you wake up after having this dream?

A bunch of malarkey...SJS, if they do trade the pick, will want SO MUCH MORE than York and 2 low firsts...they will not move up

You have to think Detroit is going to shake it up this off-season.

Hell what will leafs do if they get bounced round 1 again.

Well, it's NHL or bust for Luchanko, so I hope that is not the plan. No need to rush the kid.

Jakob Pelletier was seen as an intriguing part of the return from the Calgary Flames in the trade that sent Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee off to Alberta. The 24-year-old winger was a former first-round pick, had unreal scoring talents in the AHL and was never really given a true opportunity on the team that drafted him. The Philadelphia Flyers were supposed to be a new environment to truly see if he could be a long-term option for a team in the middle of a rebuild.

Unfortunately, head coach John Tortorella is still unsure just how to use him and doesn’t really want to hand him a larger role right now.

Pelletier has averaged just 8:46 of ice-time in the 12 games he’s played for the Flyers — and has earned a total of two assists during that time — and has not stepped an inch on the ice during any power play or penalty kill. That’s a very limited role, stapled to a fourth line with minor-league veteran Rodrigo Abols and fighter Nic Deslauriers. Therefore, a whole lot of questions is being asked about Pelletier’s future role and overall desire to see him play more, has started to grow.

This is why Torts is not the answer here. He is still coaching for now, for whatever reason.

Carle will have many options. Why would he take the Philly job?

Why Sullivan?

- hello it's me 2050

Money, term, and if they keep this stupid triumvirate management style and Carle gets more say in Philly then anywhere else, he could take it.

Problem is that it’s a pretty radical decision and I don’t think Briere or Jones have it in them.

True, I don't want to rush Luchanko either. However I think he has learned all he is going to learn from a bad Guelph team. When his season ends, I would like the Flyers to maybe give him a few NHL games at the end here and then have him play for the Phantoms in the playoffs. Same with Bump. I think adding Bump and Luchanko to the Phantoms, with the addition of Grebenkin already, should give the Phantoms a chance for a good playoff run, which is great for the kids to get some experience playing meaningful pro games.

Jett Luchanko isn’t going to become Nathan MacKinnon with another year in juniors. His ceiling is Ryan OReilly. Ryan Oreilly was in the league at 18. Luchanko isn’t physically immature either so there is no waiting for that. The only reason not to put him on the team is John Tortorella but even that isn’t 100% because he’s the type Torts falls in love with and he will get a ton of minutes.

Torts coaches the team like it is in a playoff race. This is where their rebuild plan falls apart. Pelletier should be getting more minutes, try him at center because the cupboard is so empty. If it works what a find, if not does not matter because the season is already done.

Complete incompetence. Embarrassing really. Hard to believe that there’s any somewhat intelligent hockey/sports fans that are still willing to defend Torts or this organization. Sad

Here's an article from Torts' days in Columbus. Notice any similarities, in a league all about parity, not having a PP makes it impossible to really compete. Hence, if the rebuild is over starting this summer and the team wants to make the playoffs, "it's obvious a leopard won't change its spots".

Tell me a coach who would coach to lose, and a team that wants to play for a loss

They won't

It's a gm to put them in that spot by removing players that help you win
