Love the fact that Darsch said you need to defend well to win. Everyone thought that Tampa won because of offense but no they defended better than everyone else.
I hope Roy heard that because the defense was pretty poopty last year. |

I think his playoffs weren’t horrible, if they kept going he sinks in. They’ll definitely resign him and he loves it there, his son too from what I read. We’ll see. - streaks
Always loved his game here.
I hope he gets a nice contract and is successful wherever he signs his last contract. |

So we're going to have a rematch of last year's Stanley Cup Final between the Cats and the Oil. Should be a good one, although I am thinking Florida's edge in goal and on D will overcome Edmonton's superiority in skilled forwards. |

I don't understand the Nelson hate. He didn't score in the playoffs, but had 4 assists in 7 games, and we all know how responsible he is in the defensive zone. Also, that he is very streaky. I'm not saying I want the Isles to resign him, but I also read that the Avs coach loved brining him in and he fit their number 2 center spot perfectly. Not sure if this changed in 7 playoff games??
Nfd, where did you hear/read he isn't going staying with the Avs? - streaks
I went back and looked for the blog. It was one of the writers for the Avs. It came done to the fact that they were disappointed in his playoff performance. I believe this was from a GM perspective. If come across it I will post a link.

Avs cannot be happy with 4 assists for the package they gave the Islanders. Nelson is also paid to score goals.

Gonna be a great series. I think Florida wins but I’m hoping McDavid wins a cup….he deserves it. McDavid is the most amazing offensive player I’ve ever seen and that title used to be held by Lemiuex
*edit : Hymans injury really hurts the Oil. Guy had 111 hits in 15 games. That’s gonna be missed against a physical Florida. |

From Darche presser yesterday:
“When I say I’m vertically integrated, that’s what it is,” Darche said. “You can’t just have a good NHL team and no, I don’t care about the AHL. That’s your pipeline. You have to move forward player development..."
“If you look over the years, I think last year, Tampa in the top two lines, not one first-round pick. You like first-round picks, especially the first overall, but the reality of it — you have to develop your players.”
Can't wait for him to get going. |

Agreed. Exciting times. He’s the complete opposite of what the isles have had in charge for 3 decades. Do we see a move from Bridgeport to the coliseum?? 👀

I've wanted this to be the case since the Isles left there. I'm not so optimistic that it'll happen because Isles ownership invested a bunch of money in the Bridgeport arena a few years ago, but it would be awesome if it did. I'd absolutely check out a couple AHL games every year if I didn't have to get on a ferry for an hour to do it |

You’re probably right but it would be awesome for Long Island and the fans. It kinda lends itself to Darches idea about the feeder system, but I don’t think ownership wants competition for tickets so close. But who knows |

Exciting times for the Darche family. He finally gets his GM gig after paying his dues and putting in the work. It’s really a great fit and I’m happy that he reports directly to ownership. Clearly his interviews struck something with Collin’s….i can see why. He’s a winner. |

I think it'd be a good look for them to be able to offer pro hockey at a much more affordable price point for people who maybe can't afford to go to UBS with any regularity.
Would make the logistics of call-ups super easy too. Not that Bridgeport --> LI is all that difficult to begin with, not like Vancouver having their AHL team in Utica where it was for so long |

I think it makes sense for all the reasons you mentioned, but, I think the ownerships first priority is building the islander brand to champion. Cup competitive team means 60% or more season ticket holders. Once they achieve that I could see Bridgeport moving to the coliseum. It would be awesome for the fans.
Edit : name would have to change lol |

I almost don’t believe it. Listening to the presser I was like, did he really say they gonna make winning a priority for all the affiliates?? Something so simple that was wildly overlooked. |

“I didn’t blame it all on Jake, but the reality is, if you go back to last year’s playoffs, he’s lost six of seven games to Edmonton. And we gave up two goals on two shots in an elimination game. … That’s a pretty big sample size.”
Glad Duclair isn’t a goalie. He’d never come back. |

It's refreshing to get honesty from coaches. Players need to be adults and handle the criticism correctly. Duclair has no beef with the way he bounced from team to team. |

I’d pay money to hear the first phone call from Darche to Duclair. Darche strikes me as the kinda guy that wants things done his way and if not you’re gone. Winners don’t take their toys and go home. IMHO |
