Still not ready to give up on Dobson. Kid had a down year and looked lost most of the time this past season I get it. Like to give him some time under a new regime and maybe new coach. That’s unless him and his agent have unrealistic demands on his next deal. If that happens I’m all for trading him. - Cptmjl
My thoughts exactly. |

If the Sharks truly want Schaefer. Flip one and two, pick up an extra pick for this year or next year. Then grab Misa or HOME GROWN HAGENS. To add to your future first line of EISERMAN (MISA/ HAGENS). Then start your search for their Right Wing. - Nfdbulldawg
Pelech or Pulock and the 1st pick for Eklund and the 2nd pick. Then grab Misa or Hagens.
Or say (frank) it and take Schaefer. |

Sign me up. Problem is I’m not sure how much value Pelech and Pulock have. I doubt a team gives up a young scoring forward for either or both of them. IF the islanders want Hagens due to him being a great player, eiserman connection, and being a local kid, how about trading back a spot or maybe two getting another first maybe next year? Two years of drafting and shoot for real competitiveness in year three.
We literally go from the worst prospect pool in the NHL to the best in two years. Add some FA’s if we can. Trade Lee and Pageau at the deadline for 26 picks. Bam. - Cptmjl
I think you bring up a good point. Maybe the isles are better off giving up the first overall to San Jose or Chicago to compile more picks or prospects. Not sure who the number 1 prospect is on the board but I can see the isles benefit from either of the top 3. |

Most mock drafts have Misa and or Schaefer first overall though this isn’t a clear number 1 pick draft. Kind of my thoughts with a team deficient in both defense and offense. Any of the top 3 would be huge for this team. Though I can totally see whoever our GM is going with Schaefer and wouldn’t fault them for it. |

This is waaaaaaay better than barely making the 8 seed and getting beat in the 1st round I love playoff hockey but if we are being honest with ourselves this team wasn't doing squat in the post season |

You may be right but there may be potential to trade back with both the Hawks and Sharks depending on how bad they want Misa and or Schaefer. I’m a bit biased with Hagens. 😂 Know the family well. Worked with and grew up with his mom and dad. It could be an option if the islanders want to do a sped up retool. - Cptmjl
My concern with Hagens is his size. He's basically the same size as Jack Hughes, and we all saw how he got knocked around during the 4 Nations tournament. I could be wrong, but don't think he's built for tight checking physical play. Isles need to build a playoff team. I think I'd take Shaefer...or Misa. |

Misa's numbers are pretty incredible but Schaefer is a flat out talent. The kid has magnificent skating ability and puck skills to go along with great defensive instincts.
I know Hagens is the feel good pick, he's really a distant 3rd IMO.
I personally think I'd go Schaefer but be plenty happy to end up with Misa |

Hopefully Schaefer can be the Islanders Hedman if selected. Islanders should be in good shape at forward with Quinn Finley, Calum Ritchie, Cole Eiserman and Danny Nelson. |

If the isles keep the first and take Schaefer, I think the isles will have a deadly first pair with Dobson/Schaefer |

FWIW, this guy has Hagens dropping back to the 4th overall. - JohnScammo
I don't even think it's a guarantee that Hagens goes in the top 5. I think he probably does, but I wouldn't be shocked if he fell outside of it.
It would be really cool to have the hometown kid who is an Isles fan play for us, but I think it absolutely has to be Schaefer or Misa, and I'm heavily leaning Schaefer...as much as I like Misa. |
