One of my kids put it on for me. I think it was uBlock Origin Lite.

Yeah it works pretty well. I downloaded some extension called NoScripts awhile back and it has been amazing. I can read the Athletic for free

It's pretty confusing and definitely caused some minor issues, but I toyed with it for a week or two and figured out how to make it work and now it's awesome.

There's more action in that arena right now anyway.

I guess this guy's a thing on Twitter, but are any fans really getting nervous about Tsyplakov?

I suppose if you can dredge up two people on Twitter who say, "Yes, I am" then you can run with "fans" and be technically correct

Yeah, didn't think so!

I mean, he's a halfway decent roster player and if he sticks around, great. But if he pouts about the arbitration result and goes back to Russia or whatever, then I won't really ever give him another thought, to be honest.

I'd be disappointed, because his presence reduces the chances that Engvall sees the NHL ice, but they should have enough depth at forward to weather the storm if he departs.

His loss if that’s what he chooses.
I don’t think that this is what he will do as he came here to play with the best.

I guess the word is that part of the issue is he wants guarantees about his role. But I don't know...play your way into it and there's nothing to worry about. It's not like he's competing with six or seven all stars for a spot on the wing...it's probably the Isles' weakest position.

I hope that's not true. No one should be getting guarantees like that for any job. If I don't perform, I'll be tossed out on my ass. There's nothing wrong with that. There's no reason it should be different for professional athletes.

I know, just busting your balls.

They do have some money to play with, but it won't be a massive amount and frankly I think they'd be better served keeping a cushion from the ceiling for down the road. They have about $14.7M in space after the Romanov contract. Still need to sign Holmstrom, Tsyplakov, Heinemen, and maybe Gatcomb. I like Gatcomb a lot and he seems to fit the bill for the type of player Darche wants. But with Heinemen coming in I could see them moving him.

Predictions:

- Holmstrom - 3 years, $3.75M AAV
- Tsyplakov - 2 years, $2.75M AAV
- Heinemen - 2 years, $2M AAV
- Gatcomb (if he signs) - 2 years, $1M AAV

So if I'm close or right on those, they'd have somewhere in the neighborhood of $9.5M in available cap space. DeAngelo could maybe come in with something around 4 years, $5M AAV.

Doesn't leave a whole lot to sign anyone with, unless they're able to offload one of their dogshit contracts, which would be incredible, or trade Pageau.

- Gabe Athaus

Came pretty close to nailing these, save for maybe Heinemen

Tsyplakov was the final RFA that #Isles had left to sign:

F Tsyplakov: 2x$2.25M
F Holmstrom: 2x$3.625M
D Romanov: 8x$6.25M
D Dobson: To MTL for No. 16 & 17, Heineman
F Gatcomb: 1x$900,000
D Boqvist: 1x$850,000
F Heineman: 2x$1.1M

It was reported last year He wanted guarantees as well, to play on the first line or top 6. I think he wants to play in the NHL and now that he's signed I think it shows he wants to be here and not in Russia.
Solid signing and I'm thrilled the Isles have him. I would love to see if him and Shabanov have some chemistry and play together a bit to start the season?

I'd like to see him playing at least in the top 9..........unless one of these guys replaces MacLean at 4C.

Phew, the fan base was planning an all-out revolt over this, I'm told

Nice job by Darche...good number, good term.
