Remember all that PLD hates guys gave me? “Locker room cancer” etc. Hes on a 1st place WSH team, is a +23 and has 48 pts in 57 games. He’s EXACTLY who we needed in the off-season, not Rielly Smith
- nyrangers9479

His cap hit is 8.5 million, smith is 3.7. How were the rangers going to fit him during that off-season? Everyone got pissed at Drury for getting out of Goodrow’s contract to make space lol

If we didn’t sign Smith, whoever we sent the other way would’ve been subtracted also. We had the room to do it. But you know, he sucks.

No we didn't, who are we sending the other way? Trades just don't happen lol. The salary cap is a real thing. If you are trading someone like Lindgren then who is playing defense. The Rangers were never and could never afford PLD this past offseason

You can like the player but to say the Rangers were dumb for not getting him is just not true. They had no opportunity due to the cap situation

Not to mention every Ranger is having a down year. Even if it was a possibility, the same success can’t be guaranteed on the Rangers.
It’s like Giants fans saying Saquon Barkley could’ve had the same season in NY that he had in Philly

Yep and coming into this year PLD was viewed as having one of the worst contracts in the league. Imagine the Rangers trading a Laf or Kakko for that this summer. Chytill had to prove he was healthy this season to have any trade value. He was never going to be a Ranger

If the miracle happens and they make it, I want this lineup in game one

Panarin - Miller - Laf
Othmann - Trocheck - Cuylle
Kreider - Zib - Perrault or Berard
Edstrom - Carrick - Rempe
Kaliyev/JBrod

Someone new - Fox
Miller - Borgen
Urho - Schneider
Brannstrom

Trade: Smith, Vesey, Lindgren and Jones.

I’m assuming either or both, Berard and Othmann, get the call up and stick, and Perrault signs so at least they all get some playoff experience.

Rangers desperately need a homegrown player to become a star. Laf looked like a lock but what a dud of a season he’s had. Kreider, Stepan, Cally, JT about as close as they’ve come but other than JT in Van, still not stars. Cuylle could fit into that same category, which is great but still need more. It’s almost impossible how many swings and misses they’ve had without hitting on one.

It’s why they won’t win a cup. Most cup winners have one elite home grown player. Usually a center or top dman. Rangers have none

I’m repulsed yea. I can admit they suck yea. But I can also believe if they make the playoffs it’s a whole new season and I wouldn’t wanna play us

It’s truly flattering that this bothers people so much

Doesn’t bother me! This is how fans SHOULD act. Too much female dogin and moaning here.If they make the playoffs ( a HUGE if) anything can happen!

Absolutely, Bob.
My (and many, I'm sure) only issue with that would be if they trade away potential for solidified growth in the future, just for that longshot chance.

And zero centers with upside in the pipeline. Gotta say, I’m very conflicted on what I want to see happen the rest of the season. Worst case is they just miss the playoffs and still send their first to Pitt. It’s why the Fox trade conversation becomes interesting. They’ve never gotten back the super exciting prospect in any recent trades, always settle for the mid tier toss ups. If they could pry a legit center prospect for Fox and potentially more, it’s maybe worth considering. Probably less than 10% chance but Drury needs to consider all options to really shake things up. No one else other than maybe Panarin are bringing much back, that’s assuming Laf is still off the table.

We've seen their playoff performance the last few years, nothing really to get all warm and fuzzy inside about.

If the word is true that Key Miller will command a 5-year deal at $6.5M, then it's time to move on. He's barely warranted his current $3.7M...now he wants double that?

I would love to trade him for a promising Center but no way is he worth more than 5 per for 2 years.

I would not even go there. Maybe a 1-year $4.5M show me year like they did with Kakko. Not certain I would even do that, to be honest. Trade him at the TDL and get a second (or first) rounder for him.

I will root for them to win all their games no matter what. They made it to conference finals two times in the past three years. Its not like they are Toronto.

Im not saying you cant get excited, thats on you, but if you have been a Rangers fan longer than ive been alive, then you should be use to being disappointed.

Watch out for what?? Have you not been watching games this year?? You think this team, which after a 2 week break came back and got blown out 8-2 by the Sabres, had a big team meeting then played like they did yesterday, has any chance at all???

I hope you have a few bottles of aspirin on hand.

If they get in there's no one here who won't want them to win, but we're allowed to be realistic about A) their chances of even making it to the playoffs, which are slim and B) their ability to do anything other than humiliate themselves if they do somehow make it

we are also allowed to want them to sell and position themselves better for the future. you can hang out with TJ in la la land and yell at clouds with him if you want

Anyone else see the news Al Trautwig passed away? Was always curious what happened to him once he left the rangers suddenly
