Starting to look like the Leafs should have extended Marner the moment he was eligible.

His stock and price just went up.

Of course, I shoulda fell out of my mother's vagina in Canada, so hindsight is 20/20.

Trade proposal:

Canada gets Galactic Stone at 50% retained, and a conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st if he signs and stays.

USA gets : Rare Jewel, a 1st, and future considerations.

Both sides win. Stoner gets legal weed and affordable healthcare. Jewel gets Florida sunshine and Libertarianism.

Neither government wins though. 😆

Yeah. But whatever line that has Jarvis would would be the worst.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

Hagel-Cirelli-Konecny was terrible. They were outplayed, outshot by like 6 and were -2. Cooper moved his boy, Hagel, around after a bit and he wasn't fitting in anywhere. I thought Hagel would be a better fit - and is just game one, maybe he's got to get his feet under him with this team - but he definitely was noticeably poor yesterday. Konecny was probably just as poor, to be fair.

Jarvis didn't impress with Marchand and Point, but they did end up +1 and were only outshot by 1.

From the big boys, MacKinnon and McDavid are both fast net drivers - which is great - but with the skill and talent they have around them, they could create some more dynamic plays by using the guys they're with more often. The best goal of the night came off of a Crosby assist in the first minute.

Meh. Work to be done.

Thought Doughty and Konecny in particular were poor. Doughty made some pretty bad decisions with the puck and that Cirelli/Hagel/Konecny line as a whole got hemmed in pretty bad a couple times.

I'm not sure McDavid and Marner really -click-. I'd be moving Marner to a line where when he distributes the puck he'll actually get it back.

Maybe just swap Point and McDavid? Gives Marner a shooter and a more all-around C option and gives McDavid two guys who will be content to give him the puck and then be a pain in the ass for the opponent.

- BINGO!

This. McDavid wants to drive the net with the puck, but when he does he pulls at least 2 defenders and a goalie to him - then he wants to dish to another net driver (like Hyman), or a guy setting up for a solid one-timer from the perimeter - like Draisaitl. Bennett can drive the net. Honestly, Reinhart could do the Draisaitl role very well. Marner with Point and Marchand . . .in an NHL environment I might argue the line was too small, but in this environment - you have a guy who goes to the net and is a pest and battles and Point who is both a solid playmaker and excellent shooter. On paper it should work.

I started shovelling, got about 3 sq. feet cleared and said f*ck it, and got out the snowblower.

snowblower was struggling today, it was weird icy wet snow here in southern scarborough

thank goodness there's no thaw-freeze cycles coming up

I got the big boy out. Did 4 neighbours driveways and sidewalks and a good swath on the road so they can get out.. Kept having to deal with little mini avalanches falling back on drives and walkways. Not looking forward to the snowplow ridge that will come soon…and we’re about to get high winds in the next couple hours. I love this weather…I really do.

My Hagel rose colored bias glasses fell off last night. I still think he's a solid player, but he looked lost last night.

We're in Waterdown. We got a fair bit. Like . . . 16 inches or so, I'd guess. It wasn't wet, but it was dense and heavy. I did not enjoy shoveling this morning.

They need the thicker snow so the cops can find the shell casings.

The thing is, Sweden has some excellent players, and Canada is hardly an all-star team. The goaltending was questionable last night and the defense isn't all that great. The injury didn't help.

I thought Bratt and Ekholm were Sweden's best players last night.

Agreed

Konecny struggled after that early hit on Forsberg slowed him down

McDavid and Marner lacked chemistry
One is in warp speed and other is slowing down the play
Let him rush end to end and let Bennett tap in rebounds

- mr.sir

McDavid just needs someone smart enough to get to the net. He made Maroon look like a goal scorer. I think Mac needs the same. How many times did he drive the net and a big rebound popped out and no one was there?

WRONG! The 14th Amendment doesn’t differentiate between illegal or legal residents citizens. It just says all persons born or naturalized in the U.S. The only argument has been to try to twist the meaning of subject to the jurisdiction of which had a well understood meaning when the amendment was drafted and debated and which was specifically addressed by the Supreme Court

Keep looking.

Anyone been out and about on the roads yet?

I'm heading up to Collingwood this afternoon, but think I should whip over to my dad's house first to check on him.

I was gonna go to hockley valley today, but heard the snow drifts were bad on certain roads. Which is normally fine for me to drive in, but i need to shocks, so any bump and the vehicle is bouncing sideways. Even with my all terrain tires.
