The most impressive thing about Marner lastnight wasn’t his clutch OT winner.

It was his defensive play bailing out McDavid all night. Reinhardt plays very solid defence too. McDavid is (frank)in’ selfish ho-lee but it’s fine cause he’s one of the best players in the world. There’s were 5-6 times when he could’ve passed to Mitch who would’ve had a ton of ice to make a play, but he chose to take it himself, which is fine. Marner adapting to McDavids style is crazy impressive. Very few players can play with him. The two-on-one in OT where Mitch skates sideways to deny Nylander a solid chance was basically the game. Then he goes down and wins it for all of Canada. (frank)ing unreal.

Honestly tho, the top line should be MacKinnon Crosby Marner. McDavid can play witch Reinhart and Stone.

Thought Doughty and Konecny in particular were poor. Doughty made some pretty bad decisions with the puck and that Cirelli/Hagel/Konecny line as a whole got hemmed in pretty bad a couple times.

I'm not sure McDavid and Marner really -click-. I'd be moving Marner to a line where when he distributes the puck he'll actually get it back.

Maybe just swap Point and McDavid? Gives Marner a shooter and a more all-around C option and gives McDavid two guys who will be content to give him the puck and then be a pain in the ass for the opponent.

The thing is, Sweden has some excellent players, and Canada is hardly an all-star team. The goaltending was questionable last night and the defense isn't all that great. The injury didn't help.

I thought Bratt and Ekholm were Sweden's best players last night.

Took my dog a good five minutes to find the perfect spot to poop.

Starting to look like the Leafs should have extended Marner the moment he was eligible.

His stock and price just went up.
