I never said he only had 1 good season, but I think we can all agree his best season was his rookie year. I never really trusted him as a starter due to the weak goal issue that seemed to arise 4 out of 5 games.
- TheFreak
He also wasn't good in the 1997 Finals. I don't blame him for the loss cause the Wings were the better team, but he didn't have a good series.

I know that you didn't say that. His best season was his rookie year but he overall had a solid career.

He could have negotiated this if he wanted to, hi didn’t even try! Look I told you quitter wasn’t even the 2nd best player on his BC team and he is already proving me right.

How is he proving you right?

And the continuous bashing of this organization is frankly sad!
- jd250

I have no doubt Gauthier could have aired his concerns to Briere and the issue could have been resolved. He didn’t even give it a chance! Her refused to speak to the team and explain his reasons. That tells me he had no good reasons. Her can talk about circling this hanger in his calendar but the coward still does not state why he wouldn’t sign with the Flyers

Yeah, unfortunately we were also present for one of his all time clunkers. Flyers/Devils Conference Finals 1995. Series tied at 2 and the game tied at 2. Hextall lets in an all time buffoon goal to Claude Lemieux on a shot from the blueline with 45 seconds left in regulation. Yikes!! That was devastating and basically ended that series.
- Phillywhiteout

That exact goal is one that comes to mind when I think of Hextall the player.

No one did. Lindros had what? 1 point, and that came in game 4.

you are a fn clown if you think he didn't tell the flyers why. They know why, that is why they went into protect mode and tried bashing him out the door.

It was a choking situation, said Terry Murray. The funny part is that they were pretty heavily favored going into that series with the Wings cause they had steamrolled their way through the eastern conference playoffs that year.

Quitter has circled this game on his calendar? Why? He was never really part of the Flyers organization and it was his choice! Now he is circling the game like he has a vendetta or something? This kid is a complete idiot. Good riddens. He has no sense of professionalism whatsoever!
- jd250

Instead of circling the game on the calendar, perhaps he could focus on scoring goals….4 goals isn’t exactly setting the world on fire…after 33 games…his best move is to shut up and play…and maybe focus on keeping his spot in the lineup.

Hextall was a loser as a player and a GM! He is best known for leaving his crease to chase down Chris Chelios in the middle of a game. He was nothing short of an embarrassment!

This is dumbest thing you've ever posted here. And that is really saying something.

False! There is not even a report that has stated Quitter aired his concerns. Furthermore, Briere has stated consistently he has no idea why Quitter decided he didn't want to play for the Flyers, and Quitter has not retorted that claim, because he can't!

You had me until the mature person..please.…a mature person deals with a situation head on, not hide behind his mommy and daddy and agent….Now .do I think a rookie GM botched the situation? Yes. But for the kid to go scorched earth along with his parents and agent is a little azz holish….honestly the lack of details to come out this long after the situation tells me there’s a lot of blame on both sides.

Spot on!

Take the high road and just say this game is no more special than any other NHL game and he is looking forward to playing and continueing to develop. There are so many professional ways he could have answered this question, and instead he says this? But then again, Denver was actually shedding tears of joy after beating BC in the finals last year, so he was right about something. Quitter in that game, no points and under 50% FO%. Good game!

I think there is room for some fair and objective criticism towards Gauthier for not wanting to play for the Flyers but stating that he hid behind mommy and daddy and his agent is not that. Players hire agents for a reason and that's to handle issues like talking to teams on contracts and or trade demands etc. Gauthier and his agent went basically silent on the matter after initial statements. I don't see how that is going scorched earth.

You're drastically and ridiculously overreacting to a simple cliche stated to say that he was looking forward to the game.

Farabee will start on the 4th line today, Lycksell will be out. The Flyers have finally had enough of the OK player with OK skill flubbing scoring chance after scoring change. But hey, he's young, can't give up on the player .. you never know when it's going to click.

If it were a one time occurance I would say you are right. But it's not. It's a pattern with this kid. Can't keep his mouth shut. Clearly overreacts to every situation. He is the definition of entitled. I guarantee you he will never reach his potential as a player.

Hilarious. You actually believe that Tortorella's incessant line changing has any impact on a player. Only in your world is a 20 goal scorer an ok player with ok skill.

There is no evidence to support that claim. You continue to have extreme biases not supported by any reasonable facts.
