That whole line is great. And yes, I have thought " I wish we drafted him" about 5 times already during this game.

no need for Buium when you have Emil and JD in the house. |

No, that's a coach for a tanking team, which the Flyers are not. Torts is here to build a winning culture, develop players and determine which players are part of the future and which ones are not. If you want a tanking team's coach, you can hire Phil Hously like the Sabres did. And, how many games did the Sabres lose in a row now? 1-7-2 in their last 10 and last place once again, and with all that talent and high draft capital? No thanks! - jd250
Having Torts as the HC of the Flyers is the wrong mindeset for where this team is in reality.

I disagree. I thought Andrae defensively was getting burried that entire game. Yes, he makes some good stretch passes and is a good PP QB, but defensively he was brutal, and for a defenseman that's not a good thing. - jd250
Yet you have stomped your feet and defended Drysdale...who seems to get the chance to fix his game at the NHL level, while better players get sent to the AHL to fix their game.

Well, I see your 10 days away from here did you no good at all as far as evaluating hockey talent, but congrats for making it for 10 days without your lifeline. I figured you'd be in rehab or something for your withdrawal of not being able to vent your nonsense on here for 10 days. A coach with the most wins for a U.S. born coach and 2 Jack Adams awards along with a Stanley Cup is a bad coach cause you say so. WTF! - Phillywhiteout
Not because he says so, because he is. He doesn't use modern advances in tech and the such to help improve his team, he has already confirmed that he doesn't understand offense to the press, he ran down players last year to the point that we literally had to pay other teams to take them...an all star with almost a point per game pace, and salary retained just to move him. Torts has cost this team time and again, and he will do so again and again. He doesn't appear to work with the players on the bench, just huffs and yells at the refs...he really is a POS in real life, as well as a coach. His mind games are bullsh1t too.
He really is a bad coach, who can only get these type of coaching jobs..one where he doesn't have huge expectations put on him by a bottom feeding team. No contender has had any interest in him as a coach in over 15 years, yet we keep hearing this bs of him being the best US coach ever. When he flamed out of New York was the last time I think he was respected as a coach.

Correct. I think there is probably some truth to the Flyers not liking the blue line mix with both Andrae and Drysdale in the lineup. That's all Tortorella who is unable to see the impact that Andrae has made through his own stubborn biases. It is another example of the Flyers not having any vision of the future. Completely lacking the ability to plan for the future. Which leads them to continually having veteran overpaid assets in place when younger cheaper assets who can be part of the future are available. Compounded by their incessant need to routinely favor the vet over the younger players. They shouldn't have traded for Drysdale when they have Andrae. Shouldn't have signed Fedotov. Just on and on and on. It doesn't matter who is in charge. The same diseased and flawed philosophies are ever present. Preventing them from ever going to be able to build a cohesive contending level team. They just don't have the vision. Instead of floating cliches like a winning culture to their gullible fan base. They actually need a complete washout of their culture and start over. Which hasn't and likely will not ever happen.

yea was coming on to post about the same thing, and they have to let Drysdale play, he has the most upside, they need York to play and finish the year strong. If York can turn it around, would they move him later on, for a position of need, another young player with his potential lid. - wcorvette Why would they move York for a position of need? THEY NEED DEFENSEMEN!! |

The Flyers were behind in the game and chasing the game for pretty much all of it. To not play your second best offensive player and arguably your most talented offensive player more is negligent. - MJL Are you a troll by any chance? Some of your comments are grossly misguided lately. MM has been fighting it lately. Any smart coach has a feel for who has it on a given night and who doesn't. MM has not looked good for awhile now. He looks very sluggish for whatever reason. Everything about you is stats! Try watching the games.

Actually, he is NOT a POS in real life. You know what he does for rescue dogs and other charities that he does away from the rink? Do you know that he texted the Red Wings now ex coach early the next morning when he pulled the goalie and cost the Wings a playoff spot last year? Yes, his temper gets the best of him sometimes, but that doesn't make him a POS. |

When I was making my predictions this morning I forgot one. That would be that if I was betting today I would pick those NJ Devils as the 2024-25 Stanley Cup Champions. I hope I'm wrong!! |

I bet on Dallas at the beginning of the season.
A Dallas/NJ cup final perhaps?

Not a Torts fan but also not a hater. Who is the all-star with almost a point/game...Kevin Hayes? Well he's on a 2nd team since the Flyers and he's been inconsistent his whole career. Tony D? I liked Tony D but the fact that he's out of the league isn't on Torts. Despite the claims on here that the Flyers are a bunch of old grizzled vets, we are one of the youngest teams in the league. That's why I don't like Torts...he doesn't have the patience to deal with the kids. The mind games suggestion, however, is hilarious.

I missed the part about the point per game all star cause I only read part of his comment. When I identify a Torts hater I don't read comments in their entirety. If he's talking about Hayes that is quite comical. Hayes is what he is...a big body that plays the game like he is 5'2" 110 Lbs. I hope he still sends Chuckles Christmas cards every year for signing him to that ridiculous contract. I have said repeatedly that Torts probably isn't the right coach for this team, but to say that he is a bad coach is just coming across as a hater. His credentials would argue otherwise. The Flyers hired Torts cause they had become an embarrassingly soft team and were easy to play against. I personally could see the rest of this year ending up in the toilet and he will end up gone anyway (unless they move him upstairs...which would be a mistake). |

Lol yea a point per game for Lazy Haysie is just not true. I was willing to give him a chance when we signed him but he was a bust. Torts was totally a PR signing but I'm glad he got rid of guys like Hayes and Tony D (even though I like TD). I don't see Torts is around much longer unless we miraculously make the playoffs. The experts on here claim Torts runs the show but I'm hoping this is it for him when we don't make the playoffs

Why would they move York for a position of need? THEY NEED DEFENSEMEN!! - Phillywhiteout
Assume you didn’t read the comments prior, the conversation was about how small the D were, to many of the same player type. You could move York for a D with more size and yea, if you wanted center help, you could move York in a package for center help, knowing you had similar D in the system Before you respond, let me help, it would have to be a player at a similar spot to York, similar perceived upside, you know, a good hockey trade. Is that not what a GM is paid to do, find the deals that make sense and move the franchise forward. The draft is not the only place you can find young talent |
