Apologies for the lack of posts this week... it was an intense work week, and there were just too many things happening in a short period of time. Not to mention that back-to-back games of largely uninspired hockey doesn't exactly get the juices flowing. But I'll have something posted after tonight's game... hopefully about a more positive outcome.

The Sens are a better team than their recent losing skid would suggest. Hopefully some of the bad luck lately gives way to some fortunate bounces and better luck.

someone needs to tell this dumb ass team that you need to shoot to score goals 4 shots in a 5M PP is not even 1 shot a minute, while VAN scores on the 1st? or seconds shot of their 2nd PP....

Very little net front. All shots are parimeter. Tough to win like that
Blue line in the ozone is atrociuos. Tough to keep pressure on like that.
Clearing the puck out of the dzone is an issue. Those turnovers usually lead to goals.

If they work on those 3 issues. They will win

blues fired they coach after less than a full calendar year on the job. Meanwhile OTT is stuck with smith 2.0...difference between a team that wants to win and a team that just dont care...

Senators record in their first 20 games since 2019.

2019-20: 8-11-1 for 17 points
2020-21: 5-14-1 for 11 points
2021-22: 4-15-1 for nine points
2022-23: 7-12-1 for 15 points
2023-24: 10-10-0 for 20 points
2024-25: 8-11-1 for 17 points

they are worst this year after 20 games than last year......

There is something wrong, too much talent to be losing all these games.
Your top 6 is very competitive.
Your d is at least average with Sanderson being well above average.
Your goaltending however is still mediocre. Hopefully Ullmark will figure it out, hee needs to win you a couple of games to get the team confidence going.

Can't really be bothered watching games at this point. I even turned down a free ticket to the next home game .... don't want to pay for parking and for food to watch this hot mess. I'm just tired of hearing all the players mutter the same team line and then show up with that garbage for a few periods before turning it on when the time is running out in the game. Its like they play well when the outcome is already determined and it doesn't matter. But when the game matters and something is on the line, they can't play. Losing is in their psyche. So maybe it is time to change up the players.

How about Tkachuk, Norris, and Chabot to St. Louis for Thomas, Kyrou and Parayko.

Then look for separate trades for Giroux and Zub.

Time to shake up the core. And no "do a favour for" trade for Giroux. Who wants him and what is the package. Staios being the "good cop" is not working.
Time to work the phones to shake out what we can.

All these coaches can’t be bad.
Somehow they need to develop swagger, I don’t think they believe in themselves.
Obviously I don’t know this but that’s how it looks to me.
Except when they play the Leafs when they look like the best team in the league.

This team is inexplicably enigmatic. There is no historical precedent for Ullmark to be performing this poorly - he's not over the hill, he's not undersized, he's never had lower than a 905 his entire career. He's played on absolutely tire fire defensive teams in Buffalo and not been this bad.

The problem with this team is that it doesn't make sense. It hasn't for years. A+B do not equal C. It appears cerebral, and my inclination is to blame DJ Smith for most of this - we have not sniffed the playoffs since he left his mark on the team, and we are once again having the same conversation despite putting in 'the right parts'. All I know is I'm not giving up any $$$ for a product I do not understand.

I normally don't mind Travis. But someone put some mushrooms in his steeped tea or something before he wrote this doozy.

No.
Just no.
The fancy stats say - he's had one of his best partners ever in Jensen and this guy still can't cover all his gaffs.

Aside from a Miracle Run, Travis Green has proven to be a very bad coach.

This losing isn't on Travis Green and the coaching staff. This is now on the players who can't seem to win when it counts. They appear unmotivated and listless at times. The coaches don't make on-ice brain farts. That is all on the players now.

We'll dissect every game as we often do.

Ya, it was a win. But 9 power plays and a full 2 min 5 on 3 with no goal. Like. That game should have been 7-2.

Tim almost needs to slow down. He spins out and loses the puck....a lot. The defense despite the shuffling looked a little better last night.

I agree 100%
And as someone else pointed out there isn't a gambling add shoved down your throat every five seconds.
