As of Today Bedard is officially not a teenager anymore. Going into the NHL season at 20 years old he would still be considered young if he was a rookie. I think he will take a good step forward this season, even if it's not a huge difference in point totals, I think his overall game will round out more.

All I read is that he is working hard on his game this summer. Plus I'm sure he's going to be more energized as the future continues to arrive here.

Colin Delia signed a minor league deal last week.

Kings claimed Anton Forsberg off waivers. Lankinen got a sweet deal in Vancouver. Darling is back in AA meetings. Lots of former Hawks goalies finding their paths.

They showed a clip of his one timer, and all I've got to say is that's more like it, wouldn't be surprised if he's clocked in the 90s now

I know you had a big problem with his one-timer last year, but if you watch his highlights, he actually scored a bunch of goal from the Ovi spot last year.

He also missed out on quite a few quality chances, glad they figured out what the problem was.

They'll probably win more games this year just because Bedard will be able to score more goals

Gerard Gallant is signing to coach in the KHL. 1/4 of the NHL teams had a HC opening this year and he wasn't strongly considered for any of them.

Not to mention Laviolette, Torts, Boudreau, or any of the other old guard save for Q.

New coaches:
Blashill (CHI)
Sturm (BOS)
Gulutzan (DAL)
Muse (PITT)
Sullivan (NYR)
Q (ANA)
Tocchet (PHI)
Foote (VAN)
Lambert (SEA)

A couple guys on their 2nd or third chances, but virtually no retreads. Either teams have decided that the game has passed these guys by, they really aren't in that much demand at all anymore.

I do think the PP will be an upgrade with Rinzel at the blue line.

When i noticed how much flex Bedard had on his stick i would watch other players, for a kid who scored 70 goals Lardis has no where near the shaft flex, which leads me to believe he generates a lot of power from his core, and i think it'd be fun to see Bedard, Rinzel and Lardis on the PP. Then you add in Frondell... and Nazar

Agree, and can’t wait to see the rest of the kids as well, and who will stay with the big club to start the season. I’m having hockey withdrawals.

I'm thinking in a different direction. I think the PP was already pretty effective.

They were among the very best in the NHL (especially post LR only 3% off the top of the NHL and only 2% behind 2nd best). The biggest fall off was was once Jones was traded, after he was moved the PP was below league average.

The young D such as Rinzel should help fill that gap and hopefully get them back among the top 10. Levshunov if he plays full time also a strong candidate to help as he gets the puck on net.

Overall, I'd be happy to see them come back to around that 25 to 28% and I think for the foreseeable future I still think Bedard, TT, Bertuzzi will be 3 big parts, with Nazar hopefully playing a bigger role. Hopefully some combination of Levshunov/Rinzel/KK will shine in PP minutes and we see a guy like Vlasic focused more on the PK, as he has never fit well as a PP blueliner.

Except for Steve, he thought one of those guys should have been hired.

I disagreed, but at least now, if our new guy crashes and burns, I can at least say no one else with openings hired any of those guys either

Bedard's a pro. He should be playing with XS shafts, not Senior like me.

Gallant whining he didn't get a chicago interview and criticizing Blashill shows why he constantly gets fired. Maybe a great hockey mind but no people skills. Or was that SFG talking about Gallant? I forget...

Agree Vlasic shouldn't be running the PP. He kinda got the job by default last year. But Rinzel is very inexperienced as are everyone except Murphy and Vlasic. I see it being run by committee next season.

I thought he was at his best when he got Vegas to the finals their first year. Got them to buy into the group of rejects makes good narrative.

Chinakov asked for a trade out of CBUS. Hasn't played a full season in his three years, but he's got talent. Waddell said he won't just trade him because he asked. Might be worth a move, but the Hawks would need to give up something valuable.

Schedule released for the year.

https://www.bleachernatio...ne-comes-back-again-more/

Kinda strange: the Hawks play AT LOS ANGELES back to back games, two days apart (Dec 4, 6). Not sure I remember seeing that before.

- Chunk

There were a few other "see you soon" schedulngs, but they were all home / away scenarios.

It makes sense to me to cut travel that way, especailly since they want another new team soon and more games...

Just signed a Russian Goalie to an ELC.

Went undrafted. Odd as they drafted one in the 7th round.

Again, odd, but as they say, can never have enough goalies. I guess he'll be in Indy??

- vabeachbear

Unrelated to the Draft.

This kid is commesso's back-up, that's all.
