It'll be interesting, Vegas is really thin on the blue line so are the Bolts? I can see a potential 1st round pick being acquired by KD.

Chicago needs NHL ready or close to ready forwards not more draft picks.

Just a reminder future 1st round picks can be traded for good forwards and defenseman

Let's wait and see what West becomes before we arm chair QB the trade? And I'm not understanding your post? The 2nd's were in '25 this year. I think it's a 5th or something next year?
- rpeters01

Am OK with the West trade up but I think for 2026 it's time for refilling the D pipeline. Was thinking they could have taken some more d-men in the later rounds this draft.

Was being facetious that KFC always trades his 2nds for the CAR 1st (two year in a row now), so he could do it again in 2026. Don't think it will happen 3 yrs in a row.

Agreed! But you argue with anyone suggesting trading draft picks or prospects.

And right now the Hawk’s defense and goaltender are in decent shape. They need to start building the forward ranks.

It's really going to be interesting this year. KD thought they were going to be better last year ends up drafting 3rd OA, he's wise this year not to set any expectations on the season, but here we are finally bunch kids are going to play, everyone has us the worst team in the league and the perfect scenario would be to end up with McKenna and win the draft lottery. We'll see but this is most likely the last year of sucking.

And who knows maybe a bunch of kids step up and they go on a few winning streaks.

I argue the deal has to make sense, trading KK doesn't make sense. Defense is in decent shape but i want it to be in great shape

The forwards are coming

Trading anyone to make the team better makes sense.

And there’s zero guarantee any forward is coming and when they’ll make it.

They Hawks also have two 2nds next draft, their own and Vancouver. Carolina has the 1st round Dallas pick next draft. As for whether they trade up next year or not, the stock answer is "it depends." They had to really believe West was worth it to make that deal.

Carolina has an interesting view of the how the draft pick value decreases from late 1st on down. Seems they view the slope as a lot flatter than most other teams view it, and are happy to keep accumulating picks while other teams take swings at higher spots.

With the new site coming out we'll probably lose our 13k plus posts and chance at the record.

I tend to agree we could really suck this next year. Kids playing and kids winning are two totally different things. Defense especially will have to take a really good jump which is possible because they are the most experienced of our young players. I think the Forwards have a ways to go. One things for sure, last year's Forwards were not built to win. Taylor Hall was a huge part of that problem. We didn't get his best hockey. AA and Kurashev digressing killed us. When you look at those three players never mind Bedard's so called lack of development you can see why KFC was pissed off.

PS. I forgot Reichel...

Imo Hawks finish bottom 5 again but see significant improvement from the young players.. most likely take a high end forward with the first pick then restock the defensive depth in the system.

If kk is not traded image the Hawks d core going forward if the players drafted pan out, in which i think they will.
Vlasic rinzel
Kasier Levshunov
Kk Allen
Edm creiver
Murphy gets traded at tdl for late round pick from a contender. That's pretty stout defense not too mentioned who the Hawks draft next draft. Or sign in free agency or trade for. They need another top line player to complete the rebuild imo.

Roman Kantserov might be that top line player (possibly) after another season in Russia or possibly Lardis. I think it might be fun to find out in the next couple seasons.

I'm hoping for the same specifically from those two. Every team needs a couple good Russians. We have Lev now.

Lev is not Russian, its why they could draft him high.

You can't draft a Russian in the 1st round, remember, they never come over because of politics

Frondell signed ELC

Also read today that Kantserov signed or should i say is signing his, with the intent to come to Chicago after his KHL season this year. (which must be fake news as russians don't come over, except for the ones that do)
