Spence or Ravensbergen but I've never been correct on any of Kyle's second 1st rounders. Boisvert and Moore both got me screaming at my tv
- Assman22

I'd guess you weren't well aware of Boisvert but you didn't dig Moore falling to KD last yr, AssMan?

If the hawks take a forward here, they will take a goalie at #33

Nestrasil figured he would still be there in rd 2.

Big, good skating. Not sure about his scoring touch (ended the season well). Not unhappy with the pick but think there was better talent on the board.

Would be up for taking a chance on Ryabkin in round 2, especially if he is still there at #62.

Only a matter of time IMO that USHL Muskegon and Youngstown, first rate franchises that get a lotta kids drafted, join the OHL, Totem.

Not really. Kyle drafted so many guys with the same exact draft profile. Boisvert doesn't even make sense especially when Eiserman fell into his lap but it's in the past. I think they could've gotten Nessy in the 2nd round but again I'm not a GM and not keyed in on the conversations of the draft floor.

6ft 6in 185lbs:

There’s not much Nestrašil can’t do. Every night, he plays with the same high level of energy. A punishing player who seeks out big hits, skates hard after every puck, and knocks away pucks with well-timed swipes, he’s always noticeable without the puck. With possession, Nestrašil plays a high-skill, team-focused game. He works give-and-gos, drawing in the nearest defender first to give his teammate more space. With full-reach handling skill, he pulls pucks off the wall and gets to the slot in one motion, as well as carves through traffic off the rush. -EliteProspects 2025 NHL Draft Guide

Outside the top 20ish KD likes good sized 2 way centers (good guys to swing on IMO) like Boisvert, Misiak. ......... I liked Eiserman in that spot too but am fine with Boisvert. But passing on Eiserman was tough.

Caps have been drafting pretty well for awhile. Lotta teams passed on Lakovic who I thought probably wouldn't get past 15 or so.

Wheeler's Profile is less optimistic:

A riser in this draft class, Nestrasil’s numbers don’t leap off the page but he started the year with eight points in his first 21 games and finished it with 34 points in his final 40 games. His minutes rose from 10-15 per game to 17-20 per game as the season progressed, too, and he also played well in the playoffs for Muskegon. He took such big steps in the second half that UMass moved his commitment up from 2026-27 to 2025-26. Scouts are intrigued by his rangy frame, his room for physical growth and his blend of work ethic and sneaky skill. I expect the college level to come with a learning curve next season but he skates well for his size, he gets in on the forecheck, he hunts and wins pucks with his body positioning and a great stick and he showed some playmaking sense and skill this year. The belief is that once he fills out his frame, he could become a pretty unique third-line winger with the right patience. I don’t see the 20s/30s range that some do, but he looks like a top 64 prospect to me.

I honestly thought he'd fall. He statistically had a good season in the weak WHL but overall his strengths don't provide a high enough floor to feel comfortable taking him in the 1st round. Seems a lot of teams felt that way hence the dramatic fall.

The best tine for a prospect to peak is when their post season ends well. This lanky Czech import has got a feel for scoring, a long skating stride that takes him where ever he desires to be, and won’t be backing down anytime soon. He has the hands feet and skills that you see in smaller guys;displays terrific hockey sense, soft hands, and can be a deadly finisher in close. He uses his very large frame to protect pucks and succeed in in creating looks. Given his size and the long skating stride that comes with it, he’s not only a good transition wing from his defensive zone, he has a creative side as a playmaker and physical presence on the attack. He has good hands, processes quickly and creates space and has had success with his ability to thread quick passes in short areas for offensive looks. There is a terrific package of tools waiting to align for success. He is big enough to impede opposing plays, is strong on the forecheck and dominates physically when connect is made. If his first step keeps improving, and he continues to be comfortable as an east-west attacker, there is promise as a big scoring wing, who will, when he has gained power and more explosiveness with added strength, be quicker and more agile beast.

Good call, Wiz......... As is KD has added some nice top 3 and 25th overall size to the pipeline.

The two ladies who do nice "how did it make you feel" interviews on the analyst draft table with a microphone with "do anything for clicks" Weekes is a damn shame. A shame....... Isn't this the network Subban works for?
