I don't know about that.

Question;

If Knies, as currently developed, size and experience, was in the draft tomorrow night, where do you think he'd be drafted?

- vabeachbear

I’d trade the third overall for Knies … in a heartbeat! The Leafs wouldn’t.

As there seems to be no consensus whom to take a 3OA, would you trade it to the Islanders (so they can draft Hagens) for Holmstrom (24, 6'2" 214, LW, 20-25-45 this year playing on 2nd line) and Eiserman (doubt they include Ritchie)? Would that be enough?

You get a bigger player who has shown they can play top 6 (and LW) and a goal scorer (warts and all)?

- Revco38

Absolutely not. Holmstrom is a middle six guy and Eiserman is like a 14th overall. 3 for 14 and a body is bad asset management even if the draft isn’t a great one.

so are the Rangers looking to move up for a center at 3 or 4. Pittsburgh has nothing to really offer as far as prospects draft capital yes but i think Davidson wants quality instead of quantity. Rangers and Montreal are better trade partners for the Hawks.

Imo how I would think draft ranking for the Hawks in what order minus Shaffer and Misa.

Hagens martone deysoner frondell McQueen martin

If these teams wanted better picks they should’ve tanked harder and endured the crap seasons we have for 8 years. We take our Frondell/Desnoyers/Hagens and go home. Let some other team overthink this busy time and make a big mistake.

That's the rub is in it, you trade Knies 3rd OA what you left with a guy who develops in a year or 2. Bad enough they are losing Marner. Knies to me is a Brandon Saad kind of player.

This is a bit interesting if not juicy. Pens are diggin the #3 pick per Wheeler. https://www.msn.com/en-us...a75938c9c0e6a4112e6&ei=12

For Crosby,as long as he signs an extension...sure.
Otherwise,Pitt can take a walk.
I've got such a bad feeling that they'll win the lottery nezt year.

I know there's not much talk about Marner but the odds makers have the Blackhawks as the 3rd best odds to sign him?

Another site has them 4th, maybe when they say don't plan on any big signings.....

I can't imagine how excited Chunk would be if they did sign him.

Do we really think this is a year KD trades the 3rd OA, for the 11th and 12th pick in the draft?

If he does I'll be disappointed in the move.

Bigger, hard to play against, forward, skates well, good along the boards and in front of the net.

Marner’s deal is on him. He’s one of the highest paid players in hockey, he wants to be paid higher and in 12 playoff rounds in nine years he wasn’t once the best leaf player in any of those 12 rounds. If Chicago sign Marner and make the playoffs and he bombs, Leaf fans will be rubbing our noses in it.

I'd prefer Robertson, but Marner would be a good addition. He's a solid two-way player, and puts up a ton of points. He's a little older than I would prefer, but he'd be 35 when the contract ends. He'd be a great guy to pair with Bedard, especially with Nazar starting to take off on his own. They could start to build some scoring depth.

Funny enough, I've been digging into the whole team picture lately. If the coaching staff can get the whole team to start playing better defensively, that is what will have the largest effect. The team scored 47 more goals than the previous year, and gave up six more. That led to a 9 point improvement. While I still maintain that adding a legitimate first liner to the mix will drastically help the team, improving the defense is where the growth will come. Marner (as an example) does both well so he's a good fit.

I love that almost all the D-men can quickly move the puck and have at least shown the ability to snuff out opponents. Several of them can get point shots through as well.

I like that the forward group as a whole will be faster than what was on the ice for most of the year. My hope is that Blashill & Co. can instill enough responsibility in this group to stop bleeding chances for large swaths of the game. I've liked Burakovsky for a while, so I'm interested to see what he ends up bringing to the team. I'm trying not to get my hopes up for a big addition or two, but worst case, the kids will be ifun to watch.

I don't see it. Knies is a beast. Has hands and will give you 160 plus hits a year and his hits hurt. Saad might've given you 50 in his prime.

Knies shot and hands are way better than Saad. Also 6'3" 230lbs. Would I trade 3OA for a 30 n 30 top line power foward that hits and is 22? Ya.

A I have watched all of Marners playoff failure's ,and love it . He had a lot of company on those failures .Cap going up, start putting pieces in place . I deal the 3rd and KK for Knives . I don't think they will sign Marner ,but if they did I would not be upset . Maybe be like Soupy coming here, and tell the league The HAWKS are serious about building something .

I'm in the Martone camp. I think he fills a need. As some of you have pointed out, we have his types in the system. If Schaefer and Misa going 1-2 and no consensus #3 here's a couple of thoughts.

1. Draft Hagens (size not withstanding, he seems to be the BPA)
2. Trade #3 to NYI for 2 players (no, I don't know which two, you guys are the experts, I'm just a spectator) and say their 1st in 26 or 27.
3. Draft Hagens and trade him to NYI for the proposal above.
4. Find a taker in the top 10 for a guy or two and their pick this year. Then select BPA.
5. Just draft Martone and make me happy.

Hope this doesn't sound like NHL 2K.....
