I like Tippet, he fits the timeline and KD’s blueprint, don’t know anything about Foerster.

I think Knies is most definitely a top six player. Whether he gets 50 points on a bad Hawk team is irrelevant, the future is why you’d sign him. However, your point about potentially losing out on McKenna makes it clear KD has to be extremely careful if he goes the route of signing an RFA.
- paulr

When I saw Breadbag's Knies upside, and I just wanted to answer beast and if he wanted to move from Toronto, the 2026 would be worth it if I wasn't so sure Cousin Gavin McKenna might be the Hawk Lottery win if we don't relinquish it.

Yeah I'd tag him ... the Leafs do not have good luck, McKenna would go to them via Lotto?

That seems like a good move to me. There was talk this week that he might not tender Veleno, getting a decent experienced winger, gets cap money needed to get to cap floor, and someone who you should be able to flip at deadline for a guy you were going to possibly let walk, seems like an OK move.

I'll say it again, i don't believe there's as much pressure on KD to win now as much as others do here. I believe ownership is on board with the rebuild and how its going.

EDIT: Flip at deadline next year, i guess possibly this year, but next year for sure.

- vabeachbear

Me too. Veleno was slow to and with pucks, why guarantee Joe gets another kid's spot when as the number increase, there is one more opening with more skill than he has shown.

We have Bobby Orr days until one of Desnoyers, Frondell, Hagens, Misa, or Martone join the Hawks.

Some interesting news this morning

According to multiple sources, the Anaheim Ducks are in ‘significant discussions’ with multiple teams on a Trevor Zegras trade, and the likelihood is growing he could be traded this week.” @FriedgeHNIC

Didn't mean the Hocks specifically.
Just wondering if he might fetch a top 10 pick from one of the other teams.

Would anyone here seriously consider bypassing Misa to take Frondell?

Any real chance Burakovsky recaptures his past glory? I know part of an injury recovery is psychological, and he had more than his share over a two season stretch. He just played a full season and that was obviously far below what anybody was hoping for.

Otherwise, this trade is pure risk/reward. Not much given up, and limited duration, and cap hit is not an issue right now.

Shane Wright was consensus first pick. We took Lev over Demidov. Anything is possible until it isn't.

Flyers send Ryan Poehling, a second-round pick (45th overall) and a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Ducks for Trevor Zegras.

Burakovsky is basically this year's Mikheyev. Worked his way back from injury. He isn't going to hurt anything, he's on a reasonable short term contract, and is expected to provide a bit of padding in the middle six so that the Hawks don't need to force a kid in there who isn't ready. They weren't enamored with Veleno, and instead of buying him out, just flipped his for a guy they thought had the chance to be useful.

Looking at this move in a vacuum - which I really shouldn't do but will - I'd say they have a very high opinion of Ryan Greene to take the 4th line C spot out of camp.

Verberk cleared up another $3.8 mil in cap space. Poehling is a big defensive center that plays a heavy game that Anaheim needed and got two picks for a guy that has disappeared the last two seasons and doesn't fit Q's system. I'd expect Anaheim to go hunting for veteran centers in free agency with their abundance of cap space. They also need a defensive leader and remember Ekblad and Bennett have history playing under Q.

Just read this gem on X

Wow “One of the teams that’s put on a significant push with the Buffalo Sabres is the Chicago Blackhawks. I think they’ve let them know they’re willing to talk about [pick No. 3] and it really hasn’t gone anywhere.”

Per @DailyFaceoff and @frank_seravalli

Might be Kyle just leaking garbage: we tried to trade with someone, but it takes two to tango..we couldn't bla bla bla

Edit:
And just ran across this as well...total facepalm

According ESPN, the Blackhawks are "zeroed in" on center Caleb Desnoyers with the #3 pick.

Desnoyeers scored 84 points (35 G, 49 A) in 56 games while playing for the Moncton Wildcats.

Verbeek didn't need that extra cap space so you think trading a young top 6 forward for a 4th line center and 2 draft picks, not one 1st rounder, is a good deal? I don't, then again both teams suck anyways and neither will make the playoffs this year.

Verbeek has been trying to get rid of Zegras for ages. I’m sure Quenneville doesn’t want to deal with the Zegras clown show. Both teams are happy with the trade. That’s the way trades work.
