Handshake deal between Nill and marchment to deal him somewhere he wanted to play. Good on Nill for accommodated marchment.
- Scott1977

I thought Benn played better than Marchment.

I’m on the record saying I didn’t want Chicago to pursue Marner. My only reason is he can’t take his game to the next level when the playoffs come. Apparently he’s looking for a four year deal so he can cash in again at 32. Kinda shows what the only thing he cares about is. Considering it’s likely the Hawks can compete for a playoff spot but aren’t likely to be cup contenders, offer him a four year deal and give him the $14M per he’s seeking. However do not under any circumstances offer a full NMC. Give him a partial one but at the end of the day the Hawks have to be able to move him before he walks like he’s doing with the Leafs.

The deal Donato signed gives him some control for the first three years but none for the last year of it, so he can be traded wherever.

That sounds like an idea, I just want the Hawks to have control especially later in the term of his contract. Marner would be a valuable member for a few years to get Bedard going and to show the younger guys how to play defensively. But I don’t want any part of him on a team that’s competing for the cup, because he won’t be there.

I think he might be a realistic possibility.
- breadbag

And at 30 years of age, a 2 year contract means he would get another shot at another big contract. Kind of like Paul's 4 year Marner contract scenario.

Don't know why they just didn't go after Marchment(maybe they did) Don't understand this move
- HamiltonHawk

Not a chance Nill would trade Marchment in the division and have to face him over and over. Not sure why more posters haven't commented on the absurdity of helping the Stars get Rantanen.

Technically it was Carolina ... and it was Carolina that flubbed that one. Not realistic to expect that to have happened - but it did, just the same.

Christ Peters over at flohockey has Frondell at #2 to the Sharks and Misa going to Chicago at 3

Interesting mock draft.

Now all the Hocks fans are going to freak out: we need Frondell! Why does SJ want him and not Misa??

Hawks picked up salary so they can play that horse over and over again for 8 years.

If San Jose doesn't take Misa, the GM should be fired! I believe that he has already said he would, so his job is safe.

Yep cause Rantanen will put those exact same numbers up or better for all 8 yrs of that contract. Cheers!

IF, if this is true there’s a simple reason. Misa, Celebrini and Smith are the same player with different faces. By all accounts Frondell brings a different game, he’s able to play centers or wing, he’s more of a two way power forward and he’s apparently very close to being NHL ready.

But this same rumour is suddenly everywhere reported by different sources.

Wrong... you can blame Carolina all you want for flubbing it, but you cannot blame Chicago for Carolina's failure. Unless you are going to - Carolina duped Chicago, and they were secretly only interested in the assets they got back from Dallas.

That's a pretty big leap.

I was expecting KD to add a big forward with some wheels although I was hoping younger, however they only gave up Veleno. Bamford was surprised that KD didn’t make the Kraken pay for the cap flexibility, can’t say I disagree with him. Now that he has reached the cap floor, let’s see what else he has up his sleeve. We now have Lou Angotti number of days until 2025 NHL draft and I’ll be fine with whomever KD takes at 3OA.

Well in Steve’s world KFC (frank)s up everything and the Hawks will suck eternally. Drafting Bedard was wrong, Nazar wrong, Arty wrong, Rinzel wrong,, etc….

It’s as if Dollar Bill never died and is still running the ship.

Veleno to Seattle for Burakovsky!

Kyle better have more moves for the offseason,if this is it,people are gonna be pissed

Edit
@MarkLazerus
Blackhawks acquire Andre Burakovsky from Seattle for Joe Veleno. Burakovsky has two years left on his contract with a $5.5-million cap hit. He had 37 points in 79 games last season.

So they made this trade to get to the floor?

- captainserious

What number will he wear? 95 is taken and 85 is retired.

I’m thinking that KD moves up, so either Spence if he moves up or Fiddler(RD)if he stays put.

If true, either we're all wrong about Misa vs. Frondell or SJ should be calling KD to make a quick easy deal to get their guy plus more. Call it a "Reverse Trubisky."

I’m hoping for Spence. Great skater, good hands, plays hard anywhere on the ice and he’s a (frank)ing nuisance.
