Makes no sense to me. I was just passing on what I saw.

Briere may like someone who he knows won't last until 6th. Like KFC in the Bedard draft working the phones at pick 11 to get Moore, who dropped to him at pick 19.

Why? He’s averaged 25 goals a year since he started playing regular shifts three years ago. He has size and is an above average skater, also only 26. Heck, I would trade both Donato and Bertuzzi for him. Donato had a great year, I’m a fan, however there has to be some concern that he reverts back to his first eight years in the league.

No doubt, but i wonder if that's what the Flyers think about Tippet after they signed him because last year for him was not so great.

Imo flyers need center help desperately so whether it's hagens desorney or frondellit a trade that could benefit both teams. Same with the Buffalo and Chicago possible trade rumor perterka and 9 for 3rd overall as the base if the trade. Hawks are in the driver seat. I still think they will make a run at Misa don't know if islanders or San Jose will willing.

Veleno to Seattle for Burakovsky!

Kyle better have more moves for the offseason,if this is it,people are gonna be pissed

Edit
@MarkLazerus
Blackhawks acquire Andre Burakovsky from Seattle for Joe Veleno. Burakovsky has two years left on his contract with a $5.5-million cap hit. He had 37 points in 79 games last season.

So they made this trade to get to the floor?

That seems like a good move to me. There was talk this week that he might not tender Veleno, getting a decent experienced winger, gets cap money needed to get to cap floor, and someone who you should be able to flip at deadline for a guy you were going to possibly let walk, seems like an OK move.

I'll say it again, i don't believe there's as much pressure on KD to win now as much as others do here. I believe ownership is on board with the rebuild and how its going.

EDIT: Flip at deadline next year, i guess possibly this year, but next year for sure.

Yep another salary dump for a modestly better player that'll likely play the same role

I think you’re right. If you look at moves he’s made none strike me as anything you’d characterize as desperate. Everything he talks about is building through the draft and making trades or signing players when the time’s right.

Don't know why they just didn't go after Marchment(maybe they did) Don't understand this move

Maybe they thought they could make better use of the draft picks they would have had to give up to get Marchment.

With all the prospects they have that look suited for bottom 6 roles, they were likely trading Veneno at the deadline, and essentially they traded for a player with another year of cost control who can be flipped at the next tdl.

I don’t think it’s really all that much of a head scratcher.

Wasn't going to tender Veleno

Needed Cap Money to get to floor

Needed the Cap money for a shorter term rather than a longer term

Marchment would need a longer extension

Wanted a little experience to play on a line with youngsters

That's all i can think of. Some here may also have valued Marchment higher than the Hawks did?

They spent some of the cap space they don't need right now to upgrade on Joe Veleno. They got a big fast winger that can play on the bottom 6. He isn't a perfect player but he has decent hands and ability and probably will play on PP2. It means a guy like him getting minutes over Craig Smith or Pat Maroon old guys who don't skate so well.

Going into the 27/28 when Burakovsky’s contract is over, Vanacker, Boisvert, and others will be ready. Also, I doubt that KD will trade the 3OA, however I believe that he’ll use Toronto’s pick to try and move up. I’m with bear as well, KD is going to follow his plan and some here will be disappointed.

I think Burak matches the theory of Kyle, he just increased the team speed and talent with this move, i think this is a nice upgrade to Veleno.

He had his best seasons with the speedy Avs so it'll be interesting to see how he performs.

Regarding Burkovasky I see some of the posts people have made
But he has only scored 10 n 7 goals the last two years
Marchment has had over 20 both years , plays a agitated style that I believe the Hawks could use.
Saying that perhaps he didn't want to come to thecHawks has a limited no trade deal.
Time will tell but I think the Hawks could have did better than Burkovasky

No surprise here.

The Blackhawks have placed Brodie on unconditional waivers for buyout purposes, per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

So he still counts as 3.2mil toward the cap and they get a roster spot open.
He actually wasn't that bad to start the year, but after about 20-25 games or so,you could tell he wasn't doing any good for the team.
He'll be a solid pick up for a veteran team or a 7th d man on a young team

What about overpaying Jonathan Drouin for 2 years? He was at 0.86 PPG last year. The Hawks could offer more than most teams, and a 2 year contract won't affect our timeline.

Handshake deal between Nill and marchment to deal him somewhere he wanted to play. Good on Nill for accommodated marchment.
