I think there's a combination of a few things that could lead to notably better results this year.
First is having an overall faster team.
Second, I think the D-corps will get a ton more shots through. Between Arty and Rinzel, they both send almost everything they can to the net (and they get through) which will create a lot more chances.
Finally, as underwhelming as the initial announcement was, I think the signing of Blashill and the staff he's collected will improve a lot of things.

Cautious optimism reigns supreme in the offseason, and I'm going to ride that wave until they give me reason not to.

Under over is set at game 3, regular season.

NEWS: Dallas Stars re-sign Mavrik Bourque to one-year, $950K contract extension.

Well, cross him off the list.
I know someone mentioned Bourque as an offer sheet possibility. A shame too,he was probably more realistic to land than Robo.

Yep, Bertuzzi is what he is, he pitches in 20-25 goals every year, you can do worse. If KD can upgrade from Bertuzzi, great, if not then keep him around to play on the third line for another year or two until the prospects are ready.
- Angotti

I think Bertuzzi gives you a nice option on the PP, I do think as the forwards start trickling in if he's playing 3rd and 4th line and able to put up 40 points that's not a bad thing. Do agree with you guys kids got to stay on his feet more.

What I'm hearing from KFC is it really sounds like, well we know Bedard and Nazar are going to be in the NHL, but it sure sounds like he expects Greene, Moore, Dach, Slaggert to all stick this upcoming season?

We already can see that Bertuzzi, Donato can play up and down the line up. Veleno actually showed a spark when Moore was on his line.

I think one of the biggest benefactors of the youth/ talent movement will be Reichel.

It will be nice if we see guys competing for roster spots now.

I know they liked Spellacy a lot last year as well, this is the fun part of the rebuild.

If he’s not gone via trade, that would be great if he still was able to be a real contributor on this team. I hope someone is in his ear constantly telling him to shoot the damn puck and play closer to the net.

Gotta keep everyone on their toes. I'm generally a pretty reasonable person... until you try and refute my poorly thought-out ideas about how to properly rebuild a hockey team.

That's when I go full howler monkey.

According to Nick Alberta a Toronto sports reporter the Leafs and Matthew Knies are far apart in their contract negotiations. Let’s hope there isn’t one by July 1.

A YouTube podcaster Graviteh has the Flyers exchanging Tyson Foerster or Owen Tippet and the Flyers first #6 for Chicago’s #3. Both Foerster and Tippet are big wingers who have great shots. Tippet is a very good skater with good speed and great edges. Foerster isn’t as good a skater but plays more physically.

According to this Graviteh the Hawks don’t have any interest in Hagens or Martone.

I like Tippet, he fits the timeline and KD’s blueprint, don’t know anything about Foerster.

As long as his asking price isn't out too lunch. He is a young guy that had one good season. I'd hate to sign him to a huge deal and then have him under perform like Dylan Cozens did. I definitely wouldn't offer sheet him, it would be better to negotiate a trade directly.

Once the offer sheet is above 4.68 million we are giving up our 2026 first round pick and probably a shot at the lotto on Gavin McKenna. Make no mistake, we are very likely in that draft lotto conversation based on realistic standings expectations.

I like Knies, but the question, is he a first line player if he isn't playing with guys like Matthews and Marner? Last season would he have hit 50 points if he was a Blackhawk?

What would you pay him? If he is looking for money for "potential" after playing with two guys who are top 10 scorers in the league without Knies, then I'd say pass. It's all about how reasonable his price is as we have no shortage of young forwards in the system.

I have a hard time believing the Flyers would do this. I mean, if they were moving up to #1 or maybe #2, but IMO they wouldn't give up guys entering their prime plus their 6th pick just to move up 3 spots in a draft where you likely get a similar player at #3 as you do at #6. I mean they'd have to really think something most scouts don't. That's just IMO, but I don't see it happening.

I think Knies is most definitely a top six player. Whether he gets 50 points on a bad Hawk team is irrelevant, the future is why you’d sign him. However, your point about potentially losing out on McKenna makes it clear KD has to be extremely careful if he goes the route of signing an RFA.

I get the sense the Flyers have buyers remorse in Tippet , i think he's been on the trade block all of last year.

We have a couple guys like that in Donato and Bertuzzi, i just don't see KD interested

make the trade with Philly get tippet then offer the 6th overall and a 2nd from next year's draft pick to Toronto for knies and see if Toronto is willing to do that deal seeing contract negotiations are not going well. Or at 6th overall draft Brady martin if Toronto declines.

Why? He’s averaged 25 goals a year since he started playing regular shifts three years ago. He has size and is an above average skater, also only 26. Heck, I would trade both Donato and Bertuzzi for him. Donato had a great year, I’m a fan, however there has to be some concern that he reverts back to his first eight years in the league.
