I'm thinking his agent got back to him and said it doesn't look like you are going to get much more than what the blackhawks are offering.

I think he's a solid two way player. It'd be a great deal if in fact he gets around 25G 25A per season hope improving his skating gives him that consistency.

I think the big sticking point (that KD eventually gave in on) was the 4th year. Donato said he wanted more/better stability, and the original offer was said to be around 3X$4M.

At that rate, and with the cap going up, even if he reverts back to about what he was before last year, he won't be an albatross. If he lands somewhere in the middle, it's great value and he certainly brings attributes other than scoring. Good start to the offseason.

He's got a min contract, couldn't you just send him to Rockford. Seems too low to use a buyout on. Probably doesn't matter, but you don't really save any money, why use a buyout.
- vabeachbear

I'd guess because it's just an extra contract on the books and with all the kids that will be coming up, KD will need the spots.

There's rumblings that EDM is signing Trent Frederick to an 8X$4M deal. He's a bit bigger than Donato (and 27 right now), but that's a big commitment.

Beat me to it, Blackhawks App just dinged me.

I'd say that was a good deal by KD.

Assume it will be hard for many to female dog about that contract. Surprised a bit, i'd assume he could've gotten a bit more in FA.

Makes me wonder if that wasn't agreed to along time ago and for some reason, didn't get announced til now.

- vabeachbear

Not a bad deal. Probably not going to get 30+ goals again, but if they can get 15-20 from him and ~35-40 points it's not bad.

That sounds like a Stan deal, NTC also right?

Just to put it into perspective. Donato's 4 x 4Mil deal is ~4% of the Hawks Cap. It's almost identical cap% as Marcus Kruger's contract in 2016.

4 years 4 mil per isn't bad at all. Someone needs to shoot the puck on the team.

Good perspective...solid deal

If he nets 20 goals a season over the next 2 years that's a win for the Hocks

Solid deal for a solid guy
Will be able to easily move him in 2 years at the trade deadline if necessary.
I don't expect him to replicate last year, but he's a solid hockey player and the Hocks need those.
Hope Kyle signs at least 1 top 6er...or trade or RFA or whatever

Worst case, the buyout is pretty cheap for the Hawks if it ever came to that: https://puckpedia.com/pla...donato/buyout?s=2025-2026

Not really directed at you, but this made me LOL, only here on BOD do we look at the buyout on a real good 4 year contract 2 hours after it was signed

Well at least we all can see some semblence of my 7 Rd. draft, minus for whatever reason Anton Frondell.
I was told that they re-added Anton Frondell, and I think they have my latest coyuple rounds as they were when this was changed to Word Press.

So I was sent the new name and password but what I was given didn't work!

Maybe I get an answer tomorrow. I have so much I want to get to there.

At least you can get to see that if you search 2025 NHL Mock Draft lines.com

Is the Isle winger Simon Holmström who the Blackhawks are getting for pick slot#3?

I kinda like that.

If the Isles covet Hagens I’m sure they can do better. Holmstrom looks good but KD is in the driver’s seat.

If islanders want the 3rd pick holmstrom Ritchie 2027 unprotected 1st or 2026 1st þop5 protected. If islanders don't match what Davidson wants then no deal would image the same for Utah.

Matt Duchene’s four-year extension with #TexasHockey    carries a $4.5 million AAV.

He got Donaton money
Or did Donato get Duchene money?

Don't like the 4 years

Wonder what this means for Robo?

I'm guessing there will be big changes in DAL, just from the math alone. As it stands right now, the Stars are at the cap with 9 F, 7 D and 2 G.

Wouldn't surprise me to see all of Marchment, Robertson, and Dumba moved out (or in Dumba's case bought out). Reminds me of the year that Stan needed to move Sharp and Oduya.

Something will have to give as that cap hit puts them over the cap and still on 18 players rostered.

Talk about a guy disappearing in the playoffs, Nill with another bad move, nice.

Maybe we can pry Seguin away from the Stars all they have to do is throw in Dumba.

Capwages has Dumba ineligible for a buyout. Assuming that's a site error.

Who knows what a return would be if the Hawks traded the 3 overall pick. I think it's in plat but would have to a offer Hawks could not pass up.
