Lazerus and Powers podcast dropped
Saw these posts on X..can't listen to their podcast not sure if any of you have?

Some info on Peterka and Byram

@WallMaz35
The Athletic’s @ByScottPowers with some info regarding the #Blackhawks offseason plans:
"Maybe midway through last season

- captainserious[Davidson] was getting a little impatient and I think he was more willing this offseason to explore a big move..."

"But I think what he saw at the end of this season with getting those guys signed [Moore, Rinzel, Greene] and the fact that Nazar started progessing and even later in the year Bedard looked a little better. I think he's become more patient..."

"I think they're going to go as young as they can this year. Defensively, besides for Connor Murphy, it's all gonna be young guys. Among the forwards they're going to prioritize Ryan Greene, Landon Slaggert, Colton Dach and Oliver Moore."

Powers also reiterated that he doesn't think the Hawks will pursue Mitch Marner or Nikolaj Ehlers in free agency. Mentions that the Hawks don't believe those two players are the types you win with in the playoffs.

Final note is that he poured cold water on the JJ Peterka and Marco Rossi rumors. Rossi is a definite no because of his size. As for Peterka, the Hawks like them but they don't have the assets. The Sabres want NHL talent in return and the Hawks don't have that.

Well, looks like Peterka and Byram are a no go...But no mention of Robo for #3

Thanks for sharing Cap. I remember reading something at the end of the year that they were basically penciling Greene into the lineup. I'm happy that they are going to have a lot of kids in the lineup, but they doesn't change the fact that (IMO) they need to add someone to raise the level of play (and cap number).

Chunk, I’ve seen you discuss trades before and you have, correctly, argued that you can trade for a player that you don’t really need as trade bait for a subsequent trade. Or if a player, Byram for example, is better than, Korchinski for example, you move Korchinski in a trade.

If the Hawks could trade for Peterka and Byram I’m sure KD has investigated, but I don’t know if I see a fit unless Buffalo are interested in draft picks or prospects. And I hope for Buffalo fans Adams isn’t doing yet another retool.

- paulr

Frank Sevarelli just dropped that the Hawks would put slot #3 up for trade if they can get a legitmate impact YOUNG pro.

It is more a matetr of it being a young guy, good fit, and actaully worth that slot three.
It is good thinking for KT to let the word spread, becasue UTAh has put word out that they are willing to trade the 4 slot two, again for the some impact youngster to be part of their group.

(Can one of you get me Dylan Guenther from the mamMOTHS?)

So, if a team has an offer they would go try the Hawks firts then Utah?

Necas is 26. Jason Roberttson 25.

All I know is get the real thing with the traded or the pick, or they will be more than
complaining here...

Looking at the available free agents i think if i was KD I'd throw some money at Benn.

The list of free agents is pretty bad.

Nazar and Rinzel - right now, both look like they are going to hit. Not exactly superstars, but top 6 and top 4 - which is huge.
If they hit on Korchinski, that draft is going to be a big reason the Hocks are competitive again.

I wonder if Nazar and Vlasic will be psrt of the Olympic team. The US should have a really good team this year.

- captainserious

Idk Rinzel could end up being one. Top 5 D in the league. He is a real threat when he's carrying the puck up ice and I think he will figure out how to use his size on D. Man can he skate.

The only one that could have topped that was when they traded up for Mitch. There was just no reason to do it at all.

That trade was as bad as Lou Brock.

The pick I knew was a bust before he played a game was Shea McClellin. Smaller and slower than Urlacher and you want to play him at Defensive End.

Would you then be getting rid of Veleno, or Richardinson? They are all basically 3/4C's at this point.

Indeed, outside of about 4-5 guys the FA class is not great.

True he didn't have the best playoffs but i think this is a guy who can win you faceoffs, team leader, net front presence, he would make a lot of little things better for the Blackhawks offensively and defensively.

Hahs the site where the Hawks pick second?

Yeah, when I i got to glance and the "upgrade in a tutoral"and I noticed the same thing and we added him two days ago...maybe something IS up and again wasn't TOLD?

Nope, i just left here an dchecked, that is at least a nwere template that was close to my mine, but at very least you can see the profiles i had up before they started this.
I still have no "in" but even though I cannot add the missing Frondell, at least you can see what I had up before Monday a week ago...

Man, EDM's big guys are kinda crapping the bed.

Draisaitl, Ekholm, Bouchard (especially), McDavid. Mostly on the defensive side, but offensively they've only had spurts of pressure from what I've seen.

They really don't have the depth to make up for it. Obviously, really miss Hyman.

The Hawks will be better because of the kids and the experience that they’ve gained in the last year or two. However many of the young forwards aren’t ready yet, so many here myself included would like to add a top six forward. Some want an upgrade and age is irrelevant, and others would like to add a younger forward, I’m in the latter group, but I’m hoping that KD does not give up the 3rd OA, unless he gets blown away. This team needs a good young 200’ player upfront. If you trade the 3rd OA, you better be getting a McTavish back, and of course you would need to add in such deal. Another guy that I like is Lundell, however the Panthers will probably let some vets go before Lundell. If for some reason they’d rather keep the FA vets to make another run, then there’s an opportunity there, but not sure about the 3rd overall in this situation, but I would definitely give it some thought.

Did the big guys crap the bed, or are the Panthers just too deep? You win when you have multiple 200’ forwards, the Panthers have quite a few of them, more than any other team. Also, I always said that Jones as a #2 or#3, would make a difference, and they have Ekblad and Forsling in front of him. Bill Zito has done an outstanding job of building a team through the draft, FA and trades. The Hawks as KD is currently building them are more draft heavy, however there’s no doubt that after their first pick this year, he’ll need to start adding through trades, because this FA class is nothing to write home about, excluding Marner.

Me 2. Love to have him. FLA’s 3rd line was amazing.
