Hawks and Bruins made a trade Chi receives Ryan Mast and 2025 7th round pick. Bos receives Victor Soderstrom. KD at work

Don't know much about Mast.

- BGKarras

https://www.eliteprospect...m/player/512167/ryan-mast

Looks like a good depth defense pickup for RFD. ECHL then AHL in 2024-25. Can keep him another year if he does OK next season. Need someone to play once the current logjam is broken up. 7th rounder is three picks after the CHI 7th.

Will be interesting to see if Soderstrom amounts to anything in BOS.

No poop Sherlock

I just figured the Oilers weren't tough enough to comeback the way they were playing, especially when Verhaege hit whoever in the head with his stick and got the primary assist on the goal.

Did they pull their goalie like the Stars did, hahaha

They can pair him with Harding and they can just keep the crease nice and clean for Commesso.

Big boy, with a bit of a edge .Solid plus /minus . I heard Soderstrom was not expected to come over, maybe Boston knows something KD don't .

I know this has been discussed before but the 3rd overall pick Richardenson bertuzzi to Buffalo for bryram and perterka and the 9th pick and 2027 2nd. Buffalo moves up 6 spots and gets veteran help which is what they want Hawks moved down 6 spots but get immediate help now which also fits their timel line. Plus Hawks have the cap space to lock them both up for a long time.and who knows someone might fall that they had on their board in the top five. Other players or assets could be added or subtracted to.make the trade happen.
- Scott1977

A team doesn't trade out of slot three for. JJ Peterka and Byram, whose a inch away from the IR.

The team you trade with for #3 is possibly selecting a decade longe NHLer.

I just don't see the return around for half that.

Knies ?
Brady Tkachuk?

Yes, John-Jason Peterka, NO!

You want the pair, trade other things, not #THREE

Couple more WHL profiles...

Draft Prospect Profile:
NATHAN BEHM - RW
Height: 6-2
Weight: 198
DOB: 04-18-07 Age: 18

2024-25 KAMLOOPS WHL 59-31-35-66 PPG: 1.12 PIM: 12
2025-26 KAMLOOPS WHL

Behm right now is a skilled offensive forward who needs improvement in defense and physical play; scouting reports mention low hit numbers and he only had 12 PIM last season. Scouting report mentions that if there is improvement is some areas then Timo Meier might be an NHL comparison. Highlights show nice handling, shot, and some good passes including stretch passes.

Central Scouting Final Ranking: 44 (NA)
Wiz: 37

Elite Prospects: https://www.eliteprospect...player/577109/nathan-behm
"With reach, handling skill, and a knack for pulling pucks through traffic, Behm slices through opponents in spectacular fashion. He taps pucks through defender’s triangles off his backhand, just outside of their reach, and leans into their space to complete the slot cut. From there, Behm subtly changes the angle inside the release or fakes before passing. A strong first-touch player, he moves pucks to the middle of the rink instantly and launches one-timers past goaltenders."

Neutral Zone: https://neutralzone.com/n...-reports/whl-nathan-behm/
"Nathan Behm is a power forward prospect with an NHL-ready frame and a versatile offensive toolkit. Behm demonstrates strong puck-protection skills, a quick release, and an ability to create offensive opportunities for himself and his linemates from below the goal line. His blend of size, skating, and skill gives him potential at the professional level, but his consistency, defensive effort, details and willingness to engage physically are areas that need to be there every shift for him to maximize his impact."

Draft Prospect Profile:
HAYDEN PAUPANEKIS - C
Height: 6-4
Weight: 196
DOB: 02-04-07 Age: 18

2024-25 KELOWNA WHL 71-22-21-43 PPG: 0.61 PIM: 57
2025-26 KELOWNA WHL

Paupanekis is a big center who is agile, can score, and is good in all three zones. Scouting reports mention mobility but a need to get stronger, play less upright, and improve puck control. Could likely be a 3C or power forward. Highlights show some scoring ability and play around the net, also some fights. Combine: #13 Aerobic fitness VO2max, #4 Anaerobic fitness Fatigue index, #9 wingspan, #3 left had grip strength, #2 right hand grip strength, #22 pull-ups.

Central Scouting Final Ranking: 38 (NA)
Wiz: 52

Elite Prospects: https://www.eliteprospect.../577137/hayden-paupanekis
"A defensively sound center with details, pace, and physicality, Paupanekis often negates the opposition’s best players. He ties up sticks proactively, kills plays on the backcheck, and excels at supporting and winning battles down low. He’s a fluid skater with a lot of flexibility, capable of chaining crossovers, heel-to-heel skating, and tight turns. His hands blend seamlessly with the skating, evident in his ability to evade poke checks and make plays at full speed. He connects difficult passes off the backhand, fires in-stride, and has a blistering one-timer, too."

Neutral Zone: https://neutralzone.com/n...ts/whl-hayden-paupanekis/
"Hayden Paupanekis is a prototypical power forward with a large frame and physical presence that makes him an intriguing prospect for the NHL. At 6’4″ and 200 pounds, he has the size, mobility, and tools to impact all three zones. However, his game remains a work in progress, with key areas such as puck management, 200′ assertiveness, and physical engagement requiring improvement and consistency. With continued development, Paupanekis has the potential to evolve into a reliable middle-six NHL center capable of contributing on both ends of the ice."

He’s probably thinking he’s got very little money to fill five roster spots and needs to consider every option.

It’s the same as the Hawks, Pit, Det, LA (for a period), Boston, etc. the vets get older, they’ve traded all of their draft and prospect capital to win and now are in a pinch.

If you ask most fan bases, the majority would say they’d trade some years of irrelevancy for a cup. This is what drives a lot of the moves among the top teams.

I think Nill is handcuffed right now. He couldn't resist trading and signing Rantanen. I also believe he was underwhelmed by the trade offers for Robertson, I'm still curious about the cyst he removed from his foot over the summer? He also just signed Otto to that big contract after these playoffs does he become the next MAF?

Tulsky? First year or second pretty bad GMing.

Sakic is going down the Bowman route, made a bunch of great moves and it looks like it's catching up to him, making some questionable decisions now.

I guess we can look at it as bad GMing but i do wonder if owner ship didn't want to spend money in the cases of the Avs and Canes?

Ooof...forgot about the ole Yzerplan. Good call.
Hated the Red Wings as a kid,but appreciate Yzerman as sa player. The guy was a treat to watch.

I mean Sakic, it seems, didn't even try to resign Rantanen to a deal? I believe Rantanen said he would have entertained offers etc..from the Avs because he wanted to stay there...not sure if he is b.s.ing or not,but bad move by Sakic.

Just read this a min ago
Darren Dreger: Winnipeg, Colorado, Toronto and Tampa Bay still in the mix for Jonathan Toews - TSN 1050

I'd hate to see Johnny play for Toronto.
Seeing him in a Jets jersey and getting them a Cup would be cool.
I guess Col is in the mix because they are playoff contenders + he grew up liking Sakic?

I get that, but wouldn't you check with Robo first, get a ballpark figure of what kind of deal he wants next...and then lay everything out?

Robo wants X amount
We've got X amount tied up now
We need X amount of players

And then make multiple possible plans- we can trade Robo for X and or trade Z + Y for etc...

A report initially was they wanted a top 6 for Robo. Isn't that still messing with their cap space? A top 6 is gonna cost money.

I've also read that there are other players Dallas is looking to move so they can keep Robertson. They would rather move Dumba, Lyubushkin or Marchment apparently.

https://chicago.suntimes....ctor-soderstrom-ryan-mast

Per the Sun-Times, Soderstrom wanted an NHL spot (or at least a good chance at one) if he came over. Hawks have a logjam, so they moved him to BOS, guess they have some spots open.

https://www.bleachernatio...other-blackhawks-bullets/

Bamford says it means Crevier won't get an RFA tender. I think he will, Crevier could be the #7 or or at least they could probably trade him for a late pick or something. Crevier isn't eligible for arbitration so it just costs whatever the minimum offer is.
