Has Frondell said if he's for sure coming over once drafted or will he stay in Sweden for a year?

I've not heard anything official from him or his camp, but I have read from a few of the talking heads that he might be the most NHL ready of any of these top 5 pick options. He's apparently built like a tank, has been playing against adults, and has shown the responsibility to play the entire sheet of ice.

This feels so much like the 2019 draft when the Hawks took Dach. There were one or two players who were considered standouts (Byram, Hughes), and a bunch of others that should be "good, but not a lot of separation between them (Dach, Cozens, Turcotte, Kakko, maybe Zegras). All had their flaws, but should be reasonable successes.

Wondering if this will be a sticking point for Kyle for selecting Frondell.

Rumour from Bamford, Hawks trade third pick, Florida’s 2026 pick and Reichel for the Isles number one. He says the Hawks will select Misa, however they should select Schaefer in that case.

I listened to a podcast that compared the Hawks to the Sharks and it made me do some research. Which group would you rather have (going back to 2021)?

SJ:
William Eklund
Filip Bystedt
Will Smith
Quinten Musty
Celebrini
Richardinson
(Misa Presumably)

CHI:
Allan
Korchinski
Nazar
Rinzel
Bedard
Moore
Arty
Boisvert
Vanacker
(Frondell/Desnoyers presumably)

Now this is just looking at first rounders and the Hawks have 10 vs 7 for SJ, but I think the 1st overalls are a wash. The Hawks have Rinzel, Arty and KK, vs just Richardinson so far. The only advantage I see for the Sharks is that Eklund and Smith have established themselves a bit more than any of the "secondary" Hawk forwards. Nazar is likely close, but he's only got 56 games. Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Doesn't mean Kyle hasn't heard from him during the combine.

Wasn't a rumor. He simply proposed the trade in his latest mock

When I see Fondell, he still seems pretty lean to me, but probably room to add more lbs to his frame.

I think if his injury history doesn't scare the Blackhawks he's going to be the number 3 pick, he checks so many boxes of what the Blackhawks want in a player.

I prefer ours just because we have more and we started with D and have an additional 6 picks in the top 100 to SJ, but it looks like Grier has followed the Blackhawks style with 8 picks in the top 60 the next 2 years.

I do have a feeling that it will be a team we see in the playoffs when we get there.

To see how good Rinzel and Nazar looked at the end of the season, I'm really curious to see how they begin next season, especially since all the kids are getting more experience and getting closer to being men.

I don't know who the Hawks really have their eye on, but Frondell does look like a guy who will be a good NHL player. I think he is probably a future 1C somewhere.

Me personally, Not that I don't want to see more Nazar and Rinzel, I'm more interested in seeing more Moore.

I think it will be a question of how long it takes him to get up to speed, but I think he might end up 2C or 3C before we know it, especially if Nazar ends up playing with Bedard on line 1. (Maybe even Nazar at C and Bedard sliding to Wing)

Not even close. He may actually be number 2 on the Blackhawks and other boards behind Schaefer

I’m sure three weeks before Kotkaniemi‘s draft no one thought he would be a bust. Any one of those kids can fizzle out and not live up to expectations. And I haven’t seen a single list where Frondell is ahead of Misa.

He looks like a big boy to me. KD will draft BPA, whomever that may be. The Hawks will get a good player with the 3rd OA, Toronto’s pick should be in play.

I think Misa had a very nice season, but when i watch the videos of Frondell playing against men already and holding his own, unlike Hagens did in college, and the booming shot that Kotkaniemi never had, i know this is the version of Eiserman i want.

Personally, I think you are overstating things for Hagens. The accounts I've read he was a bit snakebitten and his going to tougher areas and scoring improved as the year progressed last season. He didn't have an exceptional production season that some thought he might but he was still quite good. What I've read he has a good low center of gravity and is willing to engage.

Here is a quote from David Carle.

“James is deceptively very competitive," Carle shared. “He wants to win….When the games are big, you see the juice come out more. There's this perception that he likes to be on the perimeter, but I don't think he's afraid at all to get to the inside and impact the game in the hard areas of the ice.”

Would you knock it off. We're trying to build a narrative so that we feel better about the Hawks taking Desnoyers.

I don't mean to imply he isn't big but I think in the next couple year he probably gets bigger still. I think that 196 lbs or whatever he is at will be closer to 205-210lbs.

The key is how the scouting staff project these guys. Who do they see as the better pro? I’m thinking The two guys who project as solid NHL players are Frondell and Desnoyers because of their size, compete level, their two way games and hockey IQs. I think Frondell is ahead because he played against men and because of his current size. I think you said before GMing ain’t easy.

Rico says it but i do agree with it, just call me a fan boy after watching his tape, he's got a great tool bag and a kid willing to play through men

Not taking anything away from him, but did these guys all play the same number of games, and who else was on the team? Frondell's numbers are over 25 games. Desnoyers over 49 and like you said the competition is different.
