He would still be behind the Panthers bench if he wasn't suspended. Remember Stanbo already fired him for the great Jeremy Colliton

Nah. It is called a duty to speak. You're in a position of power. I don't want him anywhere near the Hawks.

If he knew more he would've done something.... that was his excuse. All he had to do was talk to his player or tell someone on his staff to talk to the player.

He didn't want to upset upper management so he buried his head in the sand. I trust the Jenner & Block report over Q's version.

Look, he is from Chicago.

He is from Dolton.

Wanna know what pisses off people are from the city of Chicago?

When YOU are NOT, and you answer that you are from Chicago.

This was my Facebook post today:
You know how it is an arguing point if you SAY your "FROM CHICAGO" but you lived in the 'burbs?
Well, news media, the new Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost, hails from the Chicago area, where he grew up in the suburb jof Dolton, just south of the city and attended a Catholic church and school on Chicago’s South Side in DOLTON, ILLINOIS not Chicago.

That always cracked me up. I was living in the burbs and would run into transplants in my profession and when they asked me where I’m from I’d say Chicago…which when you live in the burbs that’s what you’d say, that you’re from Chicago or the Chicago area.

I remember people who moved here from places like Cincy or Buffalo being incensed because I wasn’t living in the city at the time even though I had lived in the city, was born on the far southside and spent most of my life in the Chicago area. The last 6 years I was in IL lived in the city (East Village) before moving to MI.

Anyway…people, especially transplants from lesser cities…F’ em.

OFFSEASON DECISIONS

LW Marcel, Marcel Rights Expiring 6/1/2025
C Stjernborg, Victor Rights Expiring 6/1/2025
C Pharand, Alex Rights Expiring 6/1/2025
RW Oscarson, Milton Rights Expiring 6/1/2025

Signing Rights Expiring - Probably only Pharand has a chance to be signed. Marcel may be back on another AHL contract. Likely no spots for Stjernborg and Oscarson.

LW Luypen, Jalen RFA 6/30/2025
C Saarela, Antti RFA 6/30/2025
RW Kurashev, Phiipp RFA-ARB 6/30/2025
RW Raty, Aku RFA-ARB 6/30/2025
D Kaiser, Wyatt RFA 6/30/2025
D Crevier, Louis RFA 6/30/2025
D Soderstrom, Victor RFA-ARB 6/30/2025
G Soderblom, Arvid RFA-ARB 6/30/2025

RFA - Kaiser, Crevier, and Soderblom should get RFA Qualifying Offers. Think Soderstrom needs an offer to keep his rights. No idea about Kurashev, Raty, and Luypen. Saarela went back to Europe so probably gone.

LW Athanasiou, Andreas UFA 7/1/2025
LW Donato, Ryan UFA 7/1/2025
LW Sanford, Zach UFA 7/1/2025
LW Seney, Brett UFA 7/1/2025
C Guttman, Cole UFA 7/1/2025

UFA - Donato seems like the only potential re-signing. Maybe Seney for Rockford. Figure Guttman will look elsewhere for an opportunity.

LW James, Dominic Rights Expiring 8/15/2025
D Kelley, Connor Rights Expiring 8/15/2025

Signing Rights Expiring - James looking elsewhere, not sure if CHI stll interested. Might be no room for Kelley unless on an AHL contract. G Basse already signed in the ECHL for next year.

EDIT: Ilya Safonov's contract in Russia is expired. Potentially the best time to bring him over is this summer.

Well, I was born in Skokie and grew up in Glenview. But my parents are North Siders. There were really no suburbs to speak of when they grew up.

I believe his latest placement I thought I read was at the Vatican? The Cardinal of the Archdiocese of Chicago is not the new Pope.

Pope was born and raised in Chicago
Like the last one,he's pretty much a sh!itlib

Don't care that he is from Dolton and everyone says he's from Chicago.

That never ever bothered me. You meet someone from N.Carolina and they ask you where you are from, and you say Dolton or Homewood- like they are supposed to know where that is? Chicago or Chicago area are both fine in my book.

Naperville,New Lennox,Aurora - are all Chicago.
NW Indiana - Munster,Dyer, Hammond etc...are all Chicago
Taking over Wisconsin and Michigan next

It's the opposite of LA, where they will say the specific part of LA where they live, like Van Nuys, Encino, Sherman Oaks, etc,or the specific nearby suburb like Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Pasadena, etc, instead of saying they are from LA.

Nothing more annoying than asking someone what part of Chicago they are from and the answer is something like Naperville.

Remember the year Bennett was in the combine and people were freaking because he was unable to do a single pull up? Kinda shows the combine is a very small way to rank players.
- paulr

Did not know this... How tough is Martone? He have a fight card?

Have always been a Bennett guy but many would argue his going #3 overall was too high after seeing him playing 10ish yrs in the NHL. It's too bad Calgary couldn't unlock his game the way Florida did but it's a real pleasure to watch a nasty big centerman with loads of back class play playoff hockey.

I'm probably wrong here but I see Spellacy and Boisvert, maybe in the end Artie too, as the toughest in the system in that they have size and are willing. And as you know Vanacker is often in the middle of scrums or standing in the slot taking a beating. .. Of course as prospects it's too early to know if they'll be NHLers at all.

I guess anything can happen but I'm assuming Scheafer and Misa are off the board when the Hawks are up. I think his instincts are go for speed/skill and Hagens has that in spades. But that Martone kid checks so many boxes and I think KD sees and covets that too.

And I still think Frondell is the wild card. And KD will be getting plenty calls on that 3rd pick....... Whatever Plans A, B, C and D were when KD took over I hope they stick to it. We do know KD ain't scared to pull the trigger on big trades as he showed us in his very first draft. Just no way to know what KD and Crew will do concerning the draft.

With the club showing a lotta life and speed/skill with loads of prospects in the lineup the last 15 games with a legit NHL prospect at #3 and this being KD's 4th draft Hawk fans are seemingly thru the worst of it.

Ever since Jones was moved, loads of prospects showed well late in the NHL, the Hogs winning AHL playoff games, another top 5 prospect to be drafted in a couple months it's so much easier to see light at the end of the tunnel for the fan.

Just say I am from the Chicago area, Barrington, Illinois

We who lived there know that cloaking Barrington, or the suburb, it adds a street prestige most Chicagoens think you simply don't deserve, understand, or truly embrace. The falsehood permits others you tell "Chicago" to think of you in a more urban setting, and not one you need to drive to everywhere.

Was that movie called Chicago Blues Brothers.

Suburban wives still can move into the city and be part of the culture.

But suburban and never living in the city means who are giving yourself a false person.

and don't apologize if you aren't-weren't a city habitant, we are not excluding you as good people or anything, but be real.
