I am sure some Online Hockey Journalist will argue in a column or u_tube.

He is staying just where?

After Arty's end of the game-or-game ending wild horse-hooves, he cause a stampede (with what looked like K Korchinski tossed the othe player into the crowd or attempted it?), I don't want Arty to NHL ice until learns to play AHL pro game, because, like his participation in his recent Chicago audition that end of 3rd Pd stupid penalty was uncalled for while there was time left until the buzzer was Arty looking undisciplined to winning, because the tone was set in the Mayday game where Kyle Marino sees Nolan Allan make a bad pass to Hogs captain Brent Seney who has no time to avoid the hit by Kyle Marino.

Nolan ends up tries to fight Marino who had about 150 pims this and his pro career has always is pim-littered; years in college @ Anchorange-Fairbanks NAAA were penalty-filled as his young play in W. Kelowna.

- wiz1901If Coach Richardson was returned to the bench, would Rinzel want boxing added to his training regimen.

Sure, I suppose Arty and Rinzel could start the season in RFD next season but I doubt either does…especially Sam.

The larger point was after having to endure a lineup with mostly scrubs playing with Bedard and Vlasic, plus a few more guys added in to start this past season, a light seems to be emerging at the end of a really dark tunnel.

You’re knowledge of the game and prospect analysis far surpasses my rudimentary hockey acumen but I don’t think I need to be at your level to know that the Hawks ended this past season in better shape from where they started.

Can you think of any other similar situation in the NHL? They couldn't have sent him home and arranged a deal?

I believe after the law suit they are trying to be a professional organization.

I get it Steve they won't be good until they are, and they won't win a cup until they do.

I did not get to see many games this year, but from the beginning of the season, they were MUCH faster as a team at the end of the year.

Probably not with the contract that they signed him to - there is that. By terminating the contract it allowed Edmonton basically to sign him for 25% of the hit the Hawks had Perry at. Fwiw- so maybe he got to the point where he decided he was wrong - he was not into the mentor role- and that was essentially that. Yeh sure there was an HR angle to things - whatever... it ended up working out for the team in that they didn't have to retain anything, it worked out for both Edmonton, and Perry -as it's a pretty decent fit for him that he otherwise, wouldn't have gotten.

Unless they sign Marner, which is unlikely, I’m not sure this is the year to sign another forward from the UFA’s that are available. The aforementioned Bennett would be the only one that I would contemplate signing to a three year deal. Bennett would be a nice placeholder until guys like Boisvert, Vanacker and their first pick are ready for NHL duty. Unfortunately, it is also unlikely that he would sign with the Hawks, especially for only three years. Boeser would likely be an overpay, so if they want to upgrade the forward group for the coming season, they’ll have to go the trade route. Don’t tie up any more spots with signings like Bertuzzi, one is enough.

Boeser likely to go back to his home state, Minnesota. From what i have seen of Ehlers in the playoffs, not anxious for the Hawks to sign him either.

I am sure some Online Hockey Journalist will argue in a column or u_tube that nazar WAS their best player.
There is some Chicago Bears click bait you tuber Harrison Graham someone who put up a different trade rumor eeverday it seemed, all his goofy creation, or the Sporting news site that for mouths was wrong on dozend of trades that were a waste of everyone's time.
And to waste just a few more seconds of the viewer's time, it starts with an intro of him spinning a ball, like he was a player somewhere...

Arty came up and the debate was whether to send him down after 9 games so his contract slid. He made it hard for them to do and he stayed.

And what could tilt the SJ draft board is Shark prospect Igor Chernyshov already sees time line up with Misa in Saginaw....

The best player available...

is exactly why we simply want the Islanders to differ in their scouting room, and take their local kid,
and in NY,
you think the fans will protest they passed on a 60 goal scorer who is two inches taller and seven pounds thicker?

and is ranked ahead of Hagens?

Crazier things have happened and since their drafting is currently in the hands of their scouting staff w/o a GM is place to influence it, you have to wonder if a Hagens pick curries favor AND / OR has them locking heads with a new GM.

All this trying to project even three picks in this 2025 is a dizzy thought exercise.

Of the last five drafts prior only 2020 and 2021 were drafts where I had the top three selected correctly.
Since then, no one can tell me that had the top three with the three players taken, so I kinda feellike it is above all of our pay grades.

Does it have to be a high profile player? What if it were 3 pain in the ass players to play against, 3 guys who seem to tilt the ice in their teams favor. I'll take those guys all day long, we saw a line of TT, Mik and i think Donato many nights be effective at just keeping us out of our own zone.

You gotta draft top 6 talent most times they rarely fall into your lap.

I agree that after the top two free agents, any signings would have to be with teams having trouble resigning their kids, but not the ones you probably know about media wise now...

I also don't see the separate the 2026 draft set of their own pick slots since a future 2026 UFA poach migh be one where the all get sent for some kid, as the top teams even with the expanded budget will be close to have spent their space in the continual trade deadline load ups of vets...

If you watched game 1 vs Milwaukee Allan threw down with a guy twice his size and i think he's part of the future of this team.

Didn't get anything for Perry, hahaha, read the (frank)ing room, he did something that required HR to get involved, hahaha

- BetweenTheDots

Good point on Allan. Not sure if that guy is part of the future but he showed balls there.

GM could have easily sent Perry home, made him available, and picked up a piece for him. To this day, nobody knows what he did and certainly Edmonton had no problem with it.

Perry signed with the Hawks because the Hawks overpaid. There’s no way the Oilers would have traded for him at his AAV, and the Hawks probably did not want to use a retention spot. The Hawks cut the cord on Perry due to a character violation. They terminated his contract, which means that they had a legitimate case to do so, since the Perry camp did not contest. Also, what kind of return did you expect for him if the Hawks retained say 50%?

It would not have made sense to waste a retainage spot for a bag of ECHL pucks.

He goes from SC winner and no tax state to bottom feeder in highest taxed state. Probably takes a pay cut as well.

You are right, but maybe the lesson was more important than the pick?

All the other players and orgs know what he did, I'm sure the Oilers had a very long conversation with him and probably a clause in his contract in which he agreed to.

I think Perry was contesting it or going to file a grievance but they ended up settling.

Likely Corey Perry had a case to complain about it and we never got the details of the settlement that resolved it. I think we just need to file it under "we'll never know the details" and that he did something and it was questionable.

Perry admitted he was out of line but he still filled the greivence I believe? $4M is a lot of money.

This was what Sportsnet had reported back in March.

"No grievance was ever filed.

While exact details of the settlement are unknown, the key in this case is it cannot be used as precedent in any future termination conversations. The players’ association wanted to make sure guaranteed contracts will be protected as much as is possible."
