The guy who was "too awful" for our basement team sure looked good in the series vs Tampa bay playing 26 minutes a night.

Maybe he just didn't want to play in Chicago.

Good for him, I prefer Knight and the first round pick.

If you only want to give 100% on a good team, then good riddance. The Hawks were able to get a good young goalie plus a first for him, that works for me.

Honestly, I think Jones is a classic case if a guy who will match his play to that around him. He isn't going to be a guy that will drag others up out of the basement, but he can match the play and intensity of those around him. We saw this when CBUS was in the playoffs shortly before he came to the Hawks when they beat the Lightning (2018-19 I think).

In the end he didn't want to, because he didn't sign on for a rebuild. I was just more pointing out because of the "whipping boy" syndrome that followed him in Chicago. The nonsense about addition by subtraction or him only being "at best" a 2nd or 3rd pair D-man on a good team or that he isn't a good option for a the blueline on the PP.

The Hawks did need to move on from him once he wanted out and I think we made a pretty fair trade all things considered, just saying he can be a pretty effective player for a guy who took more than his share of blame from the fan base. Way more than he deserved IMO.

I think it's great for Seth Jones to have a good playoff series, let's see what he does when he's in a competitive playoff series. Gotta feeling he'll pull a Nyquist.

I'll even add, when he was traded till the end of the season, the team looked better with him gone?

I always said that divorce had to happen, for the Hawks and for him. We gotta move on, and look forward to what the return on his trade will be. If he has a good postseason in Florida, good for him. He didn't sign up for a rebuild. I can't blame him for being bitter about the circumstances. Nobody grows up dreaming of collecting a big check while languishing on a lottery team. They dream of hoisting a Cup after scoring the winner in the seventh game.

That’s hilarious! “Maybe next year” has been the Leaf’s mantra for the last thirty years.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anders stay at the head coach. Carle isn’t an option and if Sullivan isn’t interesting the remaining options are limited. I’d be ok with Tocchet, but there aren’t many coaches available that I think are “must haves”. Keep Anders, if he works out then great, if not then keep him around until a more ideal option becomes available.
- DarthKane

If it's Anders it's because he's cheep and they're all in on Cooper next year.

I think if Cooper goes anywhere it will be for more control. I don't see him being interested in working under Davidson.

There are other options out there. If Sorensen would have kept Teravainen on Bedard’s line for say a 20 game trial, I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing him back. The fact that he didn’t or was too stubborn to put those two together tells me that maybe he’s not the right guy.

We traded Boqvist and two firsts for Spencer Knight, Nolan Allan and a first. No harm no foul in fact we're probably ahead.

Just for discussion sake for the offseason
Offersheet will Culey from the Rangers 4 x4 cost Chicago Blackhawks 2nd 2026
Trade Florida's 1st and reichel kurashev rights to Tampa for howard and 4th
Swap prospect frolian xhekja for lupen and lundwiski reason Hawks need some size and physicality in their system. Don't if Montreal would do this but just a idea.

I heard on NHL radio that if Cooper does leave, he and the Utah owner are very good buds.

The two firsts ended up being a 12th and a 6th overall, which are potential difference makers. The 12th overall would have been a Bowman pick, so it might have been more likely wasted than under KD. Not sure what KD would have done with the 6th, as he selected Korchinski with the 7th overall he got from Ottawa. The important thing is the Hawks finally seem to be on the right path, regardless.

I am all in on trying to convince Cuylle to sign an offer sheet (4 x $4.5) and trade for the rights for Isaac Howard (and the Toronto first + Reichel was my offer). Think those may be the best plays from us as I do not like the UFA market (my fear is we will overpay for Boeser) and the other teams will sign their UFA's (Dallas is in some financial mess but think Borque will sign a bridge deal).

If the Hawks are trading Reichel and Kurashev they better be getting Point in return.
