Was reading the Mac Swanson article on Pensburgh today.
JFresh's model had him as a 39% chance to be an NHL player and 16% chance of becoming a star. Data alone had him as a late first round pick. But because he's 5'7" 165, we got him in the 7th. We'll see if he overcomes the size, but I love getting a lottery ticket like this so late in the draft. |

Where'd you see JFresh's model about him?... I can't seem to find it on his Twitter |

Meh, so far that's just coming from Madden. Same as Malkin leaving after this year. Who knows though, maybe it will be true at some point if this year is the disaster we fear - Tojo.
Which means it’s just coming from… nothing. |

It was always going to fall apart eventually. Dubas wasn't hired to bring this core group a cup. It's been obvious from the start. - BINGO!
Not entirely true
The reason Dubas held out for a 7 years deal. If the Karlsson move had worked out better and the Pens were more competitive I could have seen him burning a few years worth of 1st's trying to make some playoff noise and maybe cinderella a cup. With 7 years he had enough runway to rebuild when that attempt was complete and gain traction for his next contract
After last years disaster, and Sid's seeming commitment to stay, the focus has shifted to get started right now. Not to bottom out (Which I think is his real want) but to accumulate assets before a 1-2 year TANK when the trio is gone then a quick turnaround with some top picks and other youth in the system ready to hit the ground running
A 5 year deal would have been a mistake spending 3 years chasing and then needing a new contract right as the team is in full tank mode

It’s whatever. Crosby will re-sign. Then everyone will retire, and then we’ll tank and rebuild. Fortunatamente, we have Dubas instead of Ken Holland. It’ll suck but we will be fine. We enjoyed the ride and now it’s time pay the piper. Enjoy watching Crosby, Malkin, and probably Letang not put on a different sweater while it lasts and then stick around while it truly sucks so we can watch Yager and the boys lift the Cup in ten years time, assuming I’m still alive. Either way, it’ll be tight |

Where do you base this from? Madden is probably the most connected media source to the Penguins in Pittsburgh. Outside of the media that works for the penguins. |

You don’t see too many smaller players in the league but there have been a few if he can bring the tenacity.
Everyone thinks gruden is close to the bottom 6 and although he’s 6’ he’s only listed at 172. 5 more pounds than Swanson so he’s probably pretty thick for a munchkin. Here’s hoping he has that Gerbe or (Theo) Fleury in him. |

Yeah you just gotta throw out anything he says because it’s impossible to tell when he’s actually scooping or just playing his heel character for engagement. |

Neither are true. He isn’t at all connected and that’s been proven repeatedly. He has a platform to say he’s connected and enough retards fell for it. And he’s also right about as often as a broken clock. Anyone who listens to him for hockey insight or news deserves what they get. |

Cody Glass could easily make an impact this season. He’s just being overly negative. Always with the glass completely empty mindset. |

He may well go the route of Jesse Puljujarvi, but I'm at least interested to see what Glass can do. I can't say that about most of our additions. |

Not dumb enough to bother trying. His goal is solely to self aggrandize by using his position behind the mike to try to make others sound dumber than him. I stopped listening to him years ago. I will occasionally read his articles… mostly cause he suckered me in via clickbait. But seeing how nearly everything he writes is wrong it’s never worth the click. |

Lots of front office changes. Fenway really inserting themselves a bit more in the penguins. A baseball guy now in charge of our analytics. But a lot more scouts. |
